Hearing some techno, S-5 to S-7 on the Maryland big loop SDR.

Into 'Be My Baby' at 0007 UTC.
'Ain't no mountain high enough' at 0011.

Reaching peaks of 20 over S-9 at 0030 UTC, now solid S-9+
via a Traverse City MI KiwiSDR http://kiwi.k8bmz.net:8073/
with 'Rockin Robin'

Amateur Radio / Re: Hams Behaving Badly 7200 LSB 0122 UTC 8 JUL 2024
« on: December 28, 2024, 2343 UTC »
Just tuned into this tonight , 12-28 at 2330 for the first time, after noticing this thread, out of curiosity as there are no pirates on the air at the moment...

The lunatics are definitely in charge of the asylum tonight..  Usually difficult to follow too much, as everyone is talking over each other.

The highlight for me tonight, was the guy with the hill-billy southern accent,
repeatedly singing the first four lines of "Juke Box Hero"   lmao

There's a lot of singing tonight-- I have no idea if that's normal but suspect it may be.
Random sound effects, vs. "if you'd shut that thing off, I could threaten this guy properly!"

They actually gave some of these guys licenses??

"Two out of three ain't bad"- Meatloaf at 0000 UTC,
from a midwestern SDR---   signal S-9 topping S-10 at times---

strong audio but still fighting with noise a bit

184
Signal S-7+ on the Maryland SDR, but audio weak and about tied with the noise.
Can hear music playing, but not well enough to identify it...  2253 UTC

Johnny Cash and "Ring of Fire" popping up out of the noise at 2305....

Some kind of big ute or something "womp womp womp" popped up around 2312 for about a half minute,
but then ceased....

"White Christmas" at 2325 UTC
"Walking in a winter wonderland"  2330 UTC
"Silent night" at 2345 UTC

Sounds like 'news' at 2355, but tough copy...

185
S-6 with weak audio around 0110 UTC with Eric Clapton, listening via the Maryland SDR.
Was a station ID around 0113, but couldn't pull it out of the noise...

Viva Las Vegas! at 0115.

186
Big USB signal on the Maryland SDR, peaking S-9+

'Ah Leah' Donnie Iris at 0009 UTC.
Thanks for the shoutout around 0019.

Signal and audio greatly degraded at the Maryland SDR by 0108 UTC as the band goes longer,
down to around S-5 and fighting with the noise.

Thanks for the show!

187
Can see the signal on the SDR, and hear some music popping up through the noise at some points, but that's about it.

Trying to listen on the Maryland big loop SDR, which says about S-7 signal, but audio is rare.   Pity.

S-6 to S-7 on the Maryland big loop SDR with vintage Christmas songs 0015--

Just because I am parked on THE pirate frequency waiting for a pirate to start up, hearing faint conversation in unidentified language among several operators.  Language unidentified but sounds rather slavic to me, could be Russian...  strength seems to be gaining as we get further past local sunset.

Listening on the Maryland big loop SDR.

190
Can hear some music under the noise at 2218, but not enough to identify anything.

Listening on the big  Maryland loop SDR.

191
I can hear music I can't identify, but that's all...

Voice at 0235, sorry I can't understand....

192
It IS true that I AM  "out of practice"!   LOL

I was never "in practice" when it came to the SDRs.... I was usually using my own receiver.

193
Tuned in at 0113 on Brookfield WI sdr with fair S7 to S9+10 signal, speeches by FDR,

CRAP!   I f*cked up!   I have been listening in USB all along without realizing it...
(I'm on the SDR!  no wonder the audio/signal is so good, LOL)

Sorry, about that, all. Corrected my subject line.

North American Shortwave Pirate / WFDR 6925 USB 0055 UTC 25 DEC 2024

AGAIN strong signal and great audio on the Maryland 900-foot sky-loop SDR.

World War II type audio clearly identifies this as another WFDR broadcast,
although the exact programming may be a little different yet again.
Not sure who the current speaker is, but not FDR or Churchill... 0101

Mostly S-9 to S-10+

OK, this is a little later than December 1941--- talking about Eisenhower's successes in Africa,
and his pending promotion to command of the European Allied forces---

"Germany must be stripped of her military might,
and given no opportunity in the .... future to regain that might!"   0105

Later identified by speaker as another Christmas broadcast, but the year wasn't given-- suspect Christmas 1942 or 1943.

0120 announcement identified the foregoing speaker as 'the President of the United States',
but in this broadcast it didn't sound like FDR to me at all.  Ok, whatever.
Immediately followed by station ID WFDR and off at 0121 UTC.

My salute to "WFDR"---  my kind of programming
when I wanted to vary from classic rock or modern poliltics!

LOVE IT!

Several very brief audio drop-outs around 0100.

Barely hearing some music, mostly under the noise at 0044---  pity   :(

Listening on the Maryland "big loop" SDR
