SDR - Software Defined Radio / The new improved openwebrx

This deserves its own topic :-)

Regardless of how one views the definition of "OPEN SOURCE"  we're lucky to have this software re-supported by Jakon (DD5JFK).

I'm using it on a couple of RTL SDR dongles and I really like it. Being  a Kiwi SDR owner and fan, the UI is comfortable and doesnt require advanced degrees to operate.  This is really nice software and the new version has a bunch of digital mode decoders built in. I've also hooked up a SDRplay SDR and there's support/installers for others.

There's a Groups.io group to support this and installers are available.    I'm using it with the Soapy connector to enable a pretty decent HF receiver too!

Two thumbs up!

Why do they have time limits?

Because some people go to bed and leave their PC connected to an active SDR.

(Kiwis are configurable this way as the admin chooses)

Rocky is very strong on the KFS SDR right now (5PM PDT)

Good job!

These are some fantastic logs from your QTH.

I'm going to give a try for some of these, thanks for posting them!

Just the occasional "H" there now....

Radio Shack STAR ROAMER regen that I built with the help of my dad.

It worked to the extent the design allowed it to work!

Sure looked good though.

Been listening for it on KFSKiwi for a few days with no joy

Hard to imagine that you'd need a Pi .  For beacon work, an Arduino seems more than enough .   There's more than enough IO pins to sense/control things.  You can put the thing to sleep in ultra low power mode (low single digits mA at LEAST  without a lot of work.
There's a LOT of capability in the nanos for $2.

Windy is back to its normal self.    I copied battery voltage at 12.3 temp 65 degrees, via KFS

HF Beacons / Re: KPH and the desert beacons

Thanks Chris

I guess I used to use photobucket, but I wouldn't go near them with a 10 foot pole any more.

Next time I'll use my Google storage and open a directory so it's viewable.

Sorry about that!

PS:  It was a hoot to hear Windy last week just with a 4' whip on the Degen... but I was in central CA.  Now back on the EC.

HF Beacons / KPH and the desert beacons

KPH is a wonderful resource (albeit it's cheating :-) )  for desert beacon listening.

The 4096 pair is visible here as is Windy up just below 4103.

I can't figure out how to paste images here any longer, but head to
