FM Free Radio / Re: FM station heard
« on: September 19, 2013, 1131 UTC »
I was interested in getting a low-power FM license for use in my hometown. I think the deadline for applications is coming up in just a few weeks. It's probably too late for me due to my indecision.

They would let you broadcast with 100 watts, and your typical coverage radius would be 3.5 miles from the transmitter.

It would be a great opportunity to be influential, on a cultural and political level. But at the same time, you would be cod-blocked by the FCC if you tried to be "too free" with your free radio.

Maybe it's better to be outside the system.

I've enjoyed listening to Voice of Greece over the years, as they seem to put a strong emphasis on music programming, especially their native Greek styles of music, both traditional and modern.

Maybe there will be growth in SW broadcasting in other, more developing parts of the globe. I would like to see this type growth in South America, for example.

I listen to Al Caravan radio out of Columbia for the domestic music programming, this station spends a lot of its broadcast playing domestic musical selections, which are quite good. Hard to get a good signal, though. It would be great if they had more power.   :-*

That's not the kind of drill I'm talking about,

and the whipped cream is not what you're thinking, heh, heh.

But I got some other stories that are about whipped cream and drill bits.

Just get me started with some Scotch and beers, OK?

OK! OK!

The sun may have just suffered a major heart attack.

I have some friends here in Texas who have gone through the same type thing as the sun just did--flatlined.

The sun really needs to go on a diet as soon as possible, along with a good exercise program (besides just spinning like a top).

Its weight is really out of control. In spite of all the coronal mass ejections we keep hearing about.

All I see is a lot of flab. But heck, it's still hot as heck down here in Dallas, heh.

General Radio Discussion / Re: Remake of "Videodrome"
« on: September 16, 2013, 2021 UTC »
The White House was a lot like Videodrome.

There's some stuff in there you're not allowed to see, unless you got the clearance.

By the way, Donald Rumsfeld had a lot in common with Brian O'blivion,

he only existed inside of a TV set, on VHS tapes.

(The doctor said that stuff on my face is rosacea, said it would go away pretty soon)

Heck, the sun's tired. Think about it.

One, you weigh billions of tons,

Two, X-rays are shooting out of all your orifices!

And to top it off, you got a bunch of people back on the Earth lookin' at you,

I mean your sunspots? Wouldn't you feel self-conscious?

Wouldn't you get uptight, and start to clam up?

It's like ole "W" and these scratches on my face.

I already explained how they got there . . .

No need to dwell on it, stuff just happens, even to "W"

Wow, even for someone from Texas, this stuff is rough.

My ears hurt. My head hurts. My face hurts.

I'M IN PAIN

I just heard some kind of military alarms on the pirate radio.

Pretty scary. Got to have a conference with Dick.

I'm going to the White House bomb shelter now. See you later . . . God bless

General Radio Discussion / Baby Talk on 6925 heh heh

I'm from Texas, but I know something about radios, had one when I was a kid.

Right now (except it was last night) there's some baby talk on the pirate radio.

Reminds me of some stuff we did in the White House, heh!

Heh heh but I'm not at liberty to discuss any of this, OK?

Wow, what an idiot (them, not me)

General Radio Discussion / I hurt myself on pirate radio
« on: September 16, 2013, 1323 UTC »
Like I was sayin' . . . ahhhhhhhh . . . uhhhhhhhh . . . (like I was sayin' before your moderators wiped me out)

I'M FROM TEXAS . . . uh . . .

and down here we have a sayin' . . . "Fool me once, uhhhhhh . . ."

But that's not what I wanted to discuss. My speech to the nation. Whatever you want to call it.

"State of the Unions" address THAT'S IT (my one brain still works after it's warmed up and that 10-year-old Scotch usually does the trick)

Somethin' funny happened the other day (why didn't the moderators move my posts to General Topics instead of deleting them with no explanation???)

I hurt myself listenin' to a pirate on the radio.

How it happened was, I fell on a pirate radio right here in Dallas.

Really!

That's how I got these scratches on my face.

OK?

That's how I got these scratches on my face, OK?

Hello, I caught this station too but my post was deleted with no explanation.

That's no way to treat "W"

I'm going to smoke some of you out of your holes,

and when I'm done with you,

you'll be tired and wet.

I call it . . . "waterballooning"

I rode one of those velocipedes once.

I gave her the gas, and you know what?

I don't know either, but it was awful, I hurt myself.

That's how I got all those scratches on my face.

Broadcast from Magadan or Okhotsk.

Announcer in Russian language, then 80's-sounding rock.

Barely above the noise floor at 9:21 UTC with female announcer.
