FM Free Radio / Has anyone ever been an SCA pirate?

Has anybody ever put an FM transmitter in their car, put their recorded program onto an FM subcarrier of either 67 or 92 kHz, put the subcarrier into the FM transmitter, parked outside of a place of business such as a fast food place and heard their program on the loudspeakers in the place of business? I had thought of doing that but never got around to doing it. Now of course it's too late because background music has gone to satellite, cable and internet delivery.

It may have been an old satellite radio add-on that had the too powerful transmitter. Before I retired in March 2008 I would hear them on 87.9 and 88.1 MHz while driving to and from work between my home in Mount Prospect, IL and work, usually in Libertyville IL but sometimes in other offices too. Sometimes during the workday in the company car (phone company) I'd tune to 87.9 & 88.1 and hear a dead carrier from a parked car for at least a city block either side of the car. There was also some a-hole in the Northbrook Illinois area who had a too powerful in-car transmitter on 91.5 which is the NPR station I listen to. If there was an important article I wanted to hear I had to pull over and wait for that jerk to get several blocks ahead of me in traffic.

Barely heard it earlier this evening in NE Illinois. Tuned in at 0105utc and heard bits of audio, heard heavy metal, then spacey music, then "tubular bells".

About the tethered kite or balloon, Don't tether it with a wire or anything conductive if you are anywhere near powerlines. As for balloons you can make hydrogen with water and DC electricity but if you do be very careful. BTW, the same process will make pure oxygen which is also very dangerous.

Just tuned in at 0135, heard end of "best of friends", then heard a tune by Hank Williams, now Johnny Cash with song about Noah's ark. Excellent audio for SSB, good signal. At 0143 Jefferson Airplane "my best friend". SSTV/FAX at 0228. That was a great program, thanks.

Tuned in at 0137utc, fair signal, heard country rock ballad, off suddenly at 0150utc after ID. The similar s-off, near simultaneous s-off times, equal sig strength and similar fading make me think that RF Whatever and Capt Morgan are collocated and operated. Just on internet at 0300utc after listening to Alan Maxwell.

Tuned in at 0134utc, heard blues tune "got my mojo workin", more blues, nice program, fair signal, off suddenly at 0149 after ID. Note, similar sign off, near simultaneous s-off time, equal sig strength and similar fades makes me think Capt Morgan and RF Whatever transmitters co-located and operated. Just signed on internet T 0300.
