General Radio Discussion / Hobby Broadcasting Radio
« on: November 15, 2022, 0237 UTC »
I wrote about this more on my blog, but Hobby Broadcasting Radio show #1 is done. It's scheduled to be aired on WBCQ's 5130-kHz transmitter on Thursday November 17 from 11-12 PM EST (November 18 from 0400-0500 UTC).

This show is primarily an interview with Brian Penney (longtime pirate listener and also the pirate radio columnist for NASWA), where we also talk about Halloween stations and manage to squeeze in some clips from stations on that weekend.

The plan is for HB Radio to be on the air every third Thursday of the month at this time on 5130 kHz. I'm not sure what the coverage is like for 5130, and I don't yet have it online. Let me know if you'd like to hear it, but can't.

If you hear show #1, did it sound like something you'd want to listen to each month? If not, is there anything we could do to make it better?

Original subject : Re: Comreg Raids against SW stations in Ireland

Best wishes to everyone involved. I've enjoyed hearing a number of Ireland-based stations over the past few decades.

Now that the SW broadcast bands aren't as densely packed, would it be safer to operate in the middle of, for example, 30 or 60 meters?

edit by Ray :
I split the thread and change the subject

Station pretty deep in noise with electronic music

21
VG signal with a couple of modern punkish songs. No announcements yet

22
Sounds & music with short phrases from a slowed-down voice: "Everything is a lie" "Do not trust anyone" "the signal is coming down from the sky" "You can't stop it" "Where do you go from here" etc.

Excellent signal

Voice ID at 0310, "What you just heard was the ramblings of a madman . . . a strange character . . . warning of the  coming dangers . . . keep your tube radios, folks . . .  "

"I guess we're not doing too bad for 20 watts of radio madness . . . especially considering the time"

Just tuned in to some music. I'm getting a lot of noise during the daytime from what I think is my neighbor's solar array, so I'm not getting a lot out of the signal

24
Huge, perfect signal with full quieting. Music

25
I've been listening to/for R. Pushka for months now & tonight's by far the best it's come in here. Signal isn't too bad & it isn't fading out much. I've heard a few synth new wavish songs so far. Hopefully, conditions stay pretty good

Oh, almost forgot to mention that I haven't heard an ID yet, so I'm assuming it's Pushka

26
Dead carrier here, but I assume it's a pirate

If the station pulls the plug without airing anything, this post can be deleted

Good signal with a Christmas metal song. Haven't heard an ID yet, but maybe Sycko?

29
Pretty decent carrier & getting some bits of audio on my R8. Hunted around on SDRs & found it on the Cordoba, Argentina SDR with a VG signal. Lots of modern pop & dance music in Spanish (I assume a lot of it from South America)

Off without any IDs around 2351

More copyable here than usual, not sure if the signal is stronger or if the modulation levels have been raised a bit

Talk about about the immigration issues on the southern border
