Equipment / A different look at storm noise

Sitting around listening to static from T'storms to the southeast, I grabbed this screencap off SDR-Radio, and I thought I'd share it:

This cap reflects the console state immediately after a distant lightning strike.  Here, the FFT display has just jumped up about 10dB from its normal position.  What's pretty cool about this is the fact that because I do most of my DXing with a small resonant loop, the response of the loop is clearly seen as a crown in the noise floor.  Likewise, the horizontal lines in the waterfall pane corresponding to strike noise brighten around the antenna resonant point.

General Radio Discussion / Radio Junk QSL
« on: March 02, 2012, 0322 UTC »
Received this great f/d card (#005) from Radio Junk via Belfast:

But wait!  There's more!  Also received 8 "Tickets" with matching "Keep This Coupon" coupons, a "Donneur" lapel button, cooking instructions for frozen egg rolls (for both conventional and microwave ovens), a cartoon sticker, what appears to be a Japanese Lottery scratch-off card, and an enigmatic photo print of a dude standing in front of a car dealer.

Op wants the word to be spread that they QSL, and to keep an ear open for future shows.

Radio Junk, thank you!

Lots of fading on this tonight, making it hard to ID the music.
Did peak up to S5 at 0210 for the ID.
0218 Hendrix - Voodoo Child, Stand Next to Your Fire, Wind Cries Mary, Foxy Lady
0234 Pretty much gone in the noise...

Thanks Captain!
