You are so right. I think that's why engineers really stopped designing serious communication networks on HF right after WW2, except VOA and USSR began to play radio wars on shortwave with 500kw (God Forbid ) transmitters in sixties.
Today VOA a ghost ship except to attempt to blast away a socialism in Cuba. LOL The Radio Martii, what a JOKE.
I believe we have a solar flare and a radio fade out. I am hearing almost nothing HF and arctic flutter on super stations.

Why am I always missing the rarest birds? Oh, well, maybe someday it will return?

Audio is really tailored for mid a lower range. Sounds very AM

Strong signal with some deep fades. Modulation low grade and muffled. Faded into noise here at 2133 UTC

Tried to catch SSTV, but just too much noise here. Also heard some weirdo scream call FCC? I do not know if that was a tongue in cheek or somebody else. There are such nut cases who would call the FCC if Santa gave a homeless kid a radio. Sad world dudes.

I am experimenting closed circuit with scotty 2 SSTV. Have done none in late 1970s with a Robot Flying Spot Green screen unit.
