My guy at haarp did studies back in the day that showed the idunnosphere reradiates sigs, not refracts them. There's llke 300k volts and zillions of amps up there just waiting for you to figure out how to make it into a triode.

Hard to prescribe medicine over the phone but typical causes of undesired fming are poor psu regulation and flaky vco caps.

nice, hope you get it soon. Was wondering how it'd differ from the 90 so a report would be nice. I read the first batch was sent out in November?

Wcode chu mode (inverted) said this;
Year: 2021,   TAI-UTC: 37s,   DUT1: -0.1s,   no Leap Second,   DSTpatCode:  7
  Day: 330,   Hour:  2,   Minute: 31,   Second: 33
  Day: 330,   Hour:  2,   Minute: 31,   Second: 34
  Day: 330,   Hour:  2,   Minute: 31,   Second: 35
  Day: 330,   Hour:  2,   Minute: 31,   Second: 36
  Day: 330,   Hour:  2,   Minute: 31,   Second: 37
  Day: 330,   Hour:  2,   Minute: 31,   Second: 38

That roughly matches the day and time he reported.  Also, if I remember right, CHU transmits its data mode in seconds 31 to 39.  Listening to the MP3 file there are 9 bursts of data, your decode shows 5 of those 9, and match when CHU would have been sending data.

So, someone (I assume pirate base don freq choice) retransmitting CHU audio?  Or something else?

T!

That'd be easier than rolling your own version of the chu modem I guess.

Xiegu has been working on the new product, the 6100 think it's called, so have put g90 fw updates on hold.

The latest fw have addressed many of the most glaring issues, with dsp rigs that can have their fw updated this can be never ending and not in a bad way. I'd really like to see Xiegu come out with an sdk to write fw, something Icom promised with the 7800 but has yet to deliver on.

Some feel the g90 has seen its last fw update due to past behaviour by Xiegu with previous rigs, but most if not all of them were hardware rigs, not sdr. Xiegu says there will be further updates for the 90 but their focus is on the new rig. There was an effort by someone in India to write their own fw, but I haven't got any details yet. I suspect Xiegu could increase sales over the present levels and longevity of their rigs if they made schematics and a fw sdk available. The schematics issue alone is problematic as no one is experienced in Xiegu repairs outside of Xiegu for all I know.

Equipment / Re: Can a common mode choke really help reduce RFI?
« on: December 10, 2021, 1807 UTC »
A timely post. I too have found relief from various rfi maladies via the ubiquitous choke. On the main hf ant there's two commercial chokes followed by a length of coax festooned made with ferrite cores of varying mix to ensure overall performance from below bcb to 30kilocycles. There's also a number of cores at the ant feedpoint to reduce rf getting on the coax from the near field in and around the home - chokes at each end of the line keeps noises from inside the home from getting to the ant, something not oft considered by the hobbyist. What chokes do is more or less emulate a rf "portal" directly from the back of the rig to the ant feed.
