FCC?  Pirate Radio?  who dat?

Bruuuuuupppppp pooooooooooooo <phart>

Excuse me... sorry... OMG my plants are dying!!!!!

These guys screw up everything....

What's next?  Wireless sex?  I mean really... ::)

Now where is my 'stupid' phone.... :'(

Let me get this straight, you can use any kind of drug you want in Portugal, but you can't modify your radio to transmit out of band? It seems to me fishing crews cranked up on meth to work 24/7 for days at a time, hallucinating giant sea monsters and sending out distress signals on the proper channels for rescue from the imaginary beasts would be more of a problem than out of band transmissions.

Heh Pigmeat you know the gig... these guys need to make it look like they are kinda sorta doing their jobs.  Besides they will take home mucho peso from overlooking some stuff from the guys that can pay that is...   mmmmmmmoney!!!  mucho money... bonus bucks...

You are right ff ... I forgot and it was a stupid memory blank for me as I have tested some of those units right here (on a dummy load of course... yes really a dummy load... honest... I wouldn't kid you... <sigh>).

I was amazed at the overall frequency coverage and my stomach kinds sorta turned over when the thought passed that some evil person could raise hell with these devices.

I had 2 identical units just by chance , one was relativity clean but the one was dirty as all get out.  Same design, board, parts, layout, power supply, etc... so the only thing that could be different were the active component quality...  voltages seemed the same but...  something was wrong.  :'(

Lacking a full lab I never wrote this up.  Maybe someone with a complete lab could try this same experiment... ???  Oh well, I'm too old and worn out to enter into such matters  ::)

Later and thanks for giving my memory a much needed kick  ;D

Looks good so far.  My system connected fine... the addy came up as:

kudos my friend!  ;D

One tri-core I had didn't have any fans what it did have were these massive heat sinks...  Perhaps in that case the data would modulate the sinks?  Who knows...

You win the bird....!!!  Well everybody's heard about the bird...  bird bird bird, well the bird is the word...

Yes it is John introducing the latest Richard Cheese hit!!!  "My Pharts don't stink but your feet smell like Cheese!"

Remember, do your part to stop air pollution,  phart in a jar and put the lid on very quickly.

Here's my guess:

Is it...  Brush Bimbo???

Oh crap !  I knocked over that box of electrons again... No wait, it was the positrons this time <sigh>

"I buried Paul..."

And who could argue with that?  John was the only real talent in that group...

"The only thing you did was yesterday"

And that was sung front and center... no sublim about that  ;D

All kidding aside:

I agree, this was an excellent presentation and it should be an 'ACE' in its grade... kudos!

Interesting video... can't say I agree with some of it but some I do.

It's hard for me to realize what they are talking about because so much of it is 'news' to me.

You see, I don't watch TV, nor do I listen to AM or FM radio unless the phone rings and something shows up where it isn't suppose to be... call them bogies or whatever.  I don't read Ragizines... I do read books but I can welly read between the lines so to speak.

The high point for me was that Markie of DEVO was in the thing...  Are we not men?  We are DEVO!

That being said;

I believe a lot of the poor propagation on shortwave these days has to do with all of this damned OTHR BS... and even Haarp (sp?).  Think of bombarding human cells with energy at a level that seems consistent with size and weight and what do you have?  Perhaps fried guts or a new form of cell aka; demented.  Pounding the upper parts of the atmosphere with RF at these levels is bound (IMHO) to have some sort of effect on the human genome... Perhaps to make 'Global Climate Change' a reality for some hidden means...  Make it look like it is happening when in fact it really isn't.  It's a bad thing no matter what anyone says...

OK folks... I'm ready for the comments...  ::)  if any of course  :P

253
I'd be surprised if they got even 1/10th of this amount.... more like 1/100th or less.

But they better hurry because perhaps the Chinese market will start selling devices for the frequencies.

;D

Equipment / Re: Effects of modification to gutter antenna
« on: July 08, 2016, 1440 UTC »
Hmmm... aluminum...  possible aluminum oxide on each joint = rectification = angry neighbors as the others have stated.

Hell, toss a dipole on the edge of the roof (or the top even) and call it an ice melter if you live in an area that has ice in the winter.

But I would put it on the peak of the roof... but that's just me. ::)

Did you know that aluminum filings and iron filing and (XXXXXXcensoredXXXXXX) are the makings for a great Termite b--o--m--b?  Very powerful and hot as all get out.

When you are running power to the rain gutter notice (carefully) if the aluminum oxide at the joints is glowing? If so... stop transmitting immediately...!

If you go to the peak of the roof method you may get some directionality by make a semi-inverted Vee running the antenna center at the peak and the 'legs' from the lower point of the rafters.

Always have the feed point at the highest point possible.

ie:
roof edge (outer edge of rafter)
          _ _ _ _
          \
            \ antenna
           - - - ridge pole (peak of roof)
               \ antenna
          _ _ _\
other roof edge (outer edge of rafter)  Do bass ackwards if directional (see below)

If you go this route try to get wire that has a plastic insulation with a similar color of the roof shingles.  And the coax... well hide it the best you can or find some soft plastic tubing to match the shingles (might be expensive <sigh>).

I don't know what wave pattern this might give you... a true inverted Vee is pretty most like a vertical in its wave pattern.

Anyway have fun.

PS.  I have wires every where...  why?  My morning Glory flowers need them to climb on... in the winter no one even notices  ;D

OH! only SSB hmmmm...

Sounds like you might be over driving the unit...  something is wrong here...
Are you sure your SWR meter is correct?
I'll down load the manual and give it a look see.

If the tubes are heating up use a much larger external fan if possible.  People laugh at me because I have a 6 inch fan in back of this laptop.  What can I say...?  It's a damned HP Quad core and they are well known for over heating.

Later after I give the instructions a good look... may take awhile got a doctors appointment today so that kills this day. <sigh>
