0108 music at the noise floor copied in Colorado.
0110 getting a little stronger, still not enough to make it out.
0112 strong enough now to recognize "Fly Like An Eagle" Steve Miller Band
0116 another song, not familiar with it and can't shazam it (signal still weak), but it sounds early 70s and folk-rockish.
0118 announcement, possibly station ID
0121 Stars And Stripes Forever (at the noise floor)
0124 signal finally up enough to assign a SIO, a decent 222
0125 OM speaking, hard to understand, into Yankee Doodle Dandy
0126 Speech, sounds like JFK
0135 signal is back in the mud. No longer sure it's JFK
0137 music

Just a carrier here.
0120 off

A simple Fansome troll goes three pages. This has to be a record.

You chose a timely topic with which to troll. Joe McCarthy didn't really mean to set off a firestorm with his "205 communists in the State Department" claim in Wheeling, either, but look where it took him. Oh, the places you'll go!

Tuned in at 15:57, strong carrier. But no audio until 16:16:25, when the last 15~ seconds of the sixth RDFT file was transmitted. It's typical for HM01 to "join the broadcast already in progress" when it starts late.

** Technical problems on all broadcasts copied today. Very weak signal with occasional sporadic moments of HM01 at full strength, which allowed me to hear the number sets and identify a new one, but not copy the RDFT file associated with it. HM01 continued to have troubles throughout the day, with broadcasts entirely missing, possibly not on the air at all for the 0500-1000 set (excepting a carrier without audio, but with significant distortion, for part of the 0500 hour). The file was finally received on 10 July at 0500z.

10/11 meters / Re: 11m is hopping.
« on: June 30, 2018, 2132 UTC »
Man!!!! I hate that when folks talk skip on CH19, when I'm trying to monitor where all the idiots have wrecked on the 4-lanes here. BTW, being in Denver, are you able to hear WWV on 20MHz and 25MHz there? Or, are you too far from Ft Collins to have direct wave come to you from there? Where I am in WV, seems to be a direct "E" skip pipeline from TX. That 10M FM 29.660-/R Dallas / Ft Worth machine comes in quite a bite over my scanner with just an indoor whip. That tells me when 6M, and maybe FM BC, is really open.

Denver is just a bit too far south to catch those frequencies, at least if you're talking city limits. I recently tested this out when I went to a nursery that's right on the edge of the north city line, about a mile north of the I-25/I-70 junction. I'm not sure where the exact circumference line is where all their groundwave signals dependably reach, but it can't be much further north.

10/11 meters / 11m is hopping.
« on: June 30, 2018, 1606 UTC »
6/30/18, 1605 UTC, as copied from Denver. Too much happening to know what's coming from where, but someone from Tampa FL is on 27.185 (cb channel 19).

I wonder where this is transmitting? I had to check out a few different SDR's before settling for one in Basque country, northern Spain, to get this. (I have a carrier in my own QTH but that's all.)

Thanks for posting.

1426z Considerable drop off in reception - I have learned this is a BBC frequency meant for Ethiopia broadcasting from Ascension

I consider this unlikely to be Ascension tx, because I checked a variety of South American SDR's and had a very tenuous copy at best, sometimes nothing at all. These are usually very reliable places to go copy Ascension-based transmissions. However, European SDR's had very good reception, and BBC does have a regularly scheduled transmission on this frequency from Moosbrunn (also a beam to Africa). Not saying it *is* Moosbrunn, but it's a good candidate. It could have been from Wooferton as well.

Tx went QRT at 1459, and am now listening on 12095 via Meyerton, a regularly scheduled broadcast for the BBC.

You're welcome. This is why I love worldwide SDR's. Yeah, I'd love to be listening on my own receiver, but the BBC's schedule and the solar cycle don't care what I want. Since I have no cable or satellite TV and don't usually head to a pub so early in the day, this is my best opportunity to follow World Cup action as it happens. (I have friends who do go out to watch the matches, but they live on the other side of town.)
