Very good signal, SIO 555. If they're not returning to their usual summer frequency of 9515 again this year, it will only be like this for a few weeks.

Good signal for this one. The subsequent transmissions of 17472 at 0220 and 16272 at 0240 were not copyable at my QTH, though they were coming into the KPH kiwi SDR well.

Very strong copy at my home QT, just after midnight local time. Per priyom.org, this station employs 16-tone MFSK, ~65.79 Bd, 175 Hz digital signal. I have no idea if anyone has come up with an app that can decode that (of course, any text that appears is going to be encrypted) but it would be fun to play around with if there were.

Shortwave Broadcast / WRMI, 15770 AM, 12 MAR 2023, 1934 UTC
« on: March 12, 2023, 1937 UTC »
1934 hearing the closing strains of the overture to Tannhäuser, followed by OM who's voice is rather buried in the noise so not sure what he's talking about. This is supposed to be VOA Flashpoint Ukraine per WRMI's schedule grid. Into music featuring a prominent solo cello, but can't tell if it's a chamber piece or orchestral.

EDIT: scrolling down further on the WRMI chart reveals that VOA Flashpoint Ukraine is only M-F. Sundays is reserved for a program called "Music and Medicine." Signal is still variable, but never better than SIO 222. This transmitter strangely (given my QTH in Denver and their beam to Europe) comes in well in the winter, but is more predictably a tougher copy in the sunnier months. This is definitely more par for the course for the latter conditions.

0519 Voice of Pancho Villa mentioned
0522 YL telling story with many bleeps
0522 "Pancho had Covid again. Pancho had a strange dreeeeeam" into "Stuck in the Middle With You" Stealers Wheel

SIO 343 with 444 peaks

0528 voiceofpanchovilla at yahoo dot com followed by VOPV interval music
0529 OM voice and sound effect, "Hello all you listeners"
0530 techno music, Mix Radio ID
0532 "Saturday Love" Cherrelle with MRI ID over it then QRT

Pretty rough copy, and possible long- and short-path rx as it sounds slightly echoey. SIO 111. ID based on schedules, as this should be on this frequency 2230-2300z. What speech I can hear sounds more English than Japanese, which is what's listed on Eibi, but I can't actually make out any intelligible words so who knows.

I had been on uTwente double checking that a faint signal I heard was or wasn't Zanzibar on 11735 (it wasn't, it was BBC in Pashto via Kranji - I really miss Zanzibar, which is still listed as active but I sincerely doubt is true). After BBC signed off I saw this big signal (it's local rx quality at uTwente SDR) and found it's VOV in English. News of Vietnamese rescue workers in Turkey being recognized. (Side note, the internet tells me they were just hit with a 6.3 magnitude earthquake earlier today - nothing mentioned in this news, which I assume is prerecorded.) Tx from Hanoi.

Noisy signal today, SIO 111. No trace of RFA which is the target of this jamming.

Weak but copyable, Talata-Volonondry tx, mostly spoken word (OM announcer) but occasional African music. In Tigrinya, so presumably intended for Eritrea and Ethiopia. SIO 122.

Fairly good signal, SIO 344. This is a half-hour long transmission beamed to East Africa from Santa Maria di Galeria, which sadly contrasts with the one-time 15 minute broadcast that used to be on 19m at this time and frequency a few years ago. That one was a neat world news digest which was very high quality*, while the half hour programs are religiously oriented and are of less interest to me. Though I can tolerate this better than undead Brother Stair, hi hi.

* If it was a slow news day, they'd lead off with something about the Pope, always some activity of little importance but a good way of letting the world know that things were OK for the time being.

I had to wait until 1630 to be sure that this wasn't Radio Algierienne, which is supposed to be on this frequency at this time but continuously 0600-2400 whereas this Issoudun-broadcast clandestine in Somali airs just 1600-1630. But it had music, talk, and went off the air at 1630 without anything underneath so I will take that as confirmation. I've never heard of this station before, just found it scanning 19m. Very good SIO 455 signal while I was tuned in.

Romanian language tx to Western Europe, not a strong signal but low noise and good prop allowing for what sounds like an 80s-style rock song coming across with the very-rare-to-report SIO of 253.

Very strong SIO 555 signal this morning (8:15 locally) with male speakers in interview format. Sudanese Arabic per online schedules, and Sant Maria di Galeria (Vatican City) tx.
1524 copied the English word "mobilization" in the otherwise Arabic speech
