Mostly under the noise floor here, but I'm picking up bits and pieces. I'd probably not know there was anything here if I wasn't searching thanks to this thread.

You guys are making me feel bad for the vegetarians. (Not bad enough to skip the bacon this morning, but still.) So behold my new avatar. Behold!

Nothing audible where I am, with what I'm using.

0058 Just at the noise floor in Colorado.

Took a while to wade through the comments and see that it's on 6960 now. I was worried for a minute there! Getting it at about 343 right now. Lotsa QRM. 0004

Sorry I missed that you played a song by Failure. I got to see them at Riot Fest 2014 and they were terrific.

Getting good reception on the 750 without the external antenna. But better with.

0014 Yay for GBV!
0016 Tame Impala "Let It Happen"
0024 RFW ID, into Days of the New, "Shelf in the Room"
0028 DJ Dickweed on the mic. HFU shoutouts.
0032 QRM making it hard to follow what's happening here.

Thanks for the show!

You can listen to the individual stories and editorials at their website and they're still hard to understand.

Thanks for that Skeezix. (True story - my sister had a cat named Skeezix in the 90s.)

I give this broadcast a regular listen just to see how much the signal varies from day to day. This one is specifically a transmission for North America, and most days it's as you describe. But even when the signal is clear, that male announcer is hard to understand. His accent is pretty heavy, and my need to use the narrow BW setting to reduce noise (and lately, QRM from 9430 and 9440) usually means nothing is intelligible.

I heard some of this. I forgot to log any details though. They were listed on short-wave (dot) info as "Media Broadcast" and it said it transmits from Nauen, Germany. (Their database has been weird since the recent spring schedule change - Radio Australia and Voice of Korea both seem to be completely absent, for example.) I haven't heard this station before but look forward to hearing more.

Equipment / Re: AM Audio Quality on Shortwave

I'm an absolute noob and probably shouldn't be the one answering the question, but having heard some pirate broadcasts in recent weeks my guess is that it will sound good to listeners near you and not so much as the distance grows, although propagation obviously is a tricky variable.

Are you planning on trying to transmit during daylight hours? I'm unaware of pirates doing so at that higher frequency, but as I said I'm very new to this. Seems like most use that 43m band just after sunset locally.

0334 Decent copy here. Love big band music.
0345 OM speaking. I think he identified one of the songs as a Count Basie tune. Seems to be off all of a sudden.

Thanks for the show! I was getting it on the Tecsun with the external antenna with an SIO of 444.

Music at 0047. Trying to zero in the BFO...

0056 "Get Out of the Bathroom" Oil Tasters.
side note - I can actually detect this signal without any sort of external antenna on the Satellit 750.
0101 "Gastronomic Meal" Yellow Dogs
0104 XLR8 station ID

Gotta go pick up my daughter from dance class. Thanks for the show!

0210 I'm back and holy CRAP, they played Frantix???? Darn these parental responsibilities!
0221 XLR8 ID
0222 "Death Valley 69" Sonic Youth
0226 XLR8 ID into "Alex Chilton" Replacements
I'm loving this set list. My unqualified SINPO is 33423.
Since last post through 0309, numerous XLR8 ID's and songs, but copy is getting harder here, although there are some really nice peaks.
0328 signal improved, not so much noise as before. Sounds like the Big Boys but I'm not 100% sure.
0347 still on three hours later. Nice show!
0359 XLR8 station ID. Signal pretty weak now, but not much noise or interference.
0417 signal has been gradually losing strength is now just right there on the verge of disappearing for good.
0427 XLR8 ID
0445 seems to be off

Thanks again XLR8!

0002-0005 fading in and out of audibility. Sunset not happening unti 0130z, so it's unlikely I'll get to hear much of anything.
