So you got this in the snail mail? It's great!

They're completely inaudible out west, at least judging from the lack of commentary from other westerners on their logs. (I'm not yet at the point where I would judge a signal by my own inability to hear anything.) I wonder what they might send in response to a nonreception report?

The digiDX post from today reports that their transmitters are in a state of neglect. Maybe that's what's wrong.

0321 just tuning in to music that sounds like 80s industrial.

Quite well heard in Victoria, BC until 03:05 UTC with same alpha-numeric sequences, and "out".  Wonder whether he'll be back.  Caught him after VOA Radiogram on 5745.  Was there an ID for Ride of the Valkyries?   Walt

This is a station some of the people hear have been logging for the past couple of weeks. Format is an electronic, maybe 8-bit version of the Ride of the Valkyries melody followed by OM reading alphanumeric ASCII in hex. Basically someone is doing a pseudo numbers station, so no other ID is given.

0239 Electronic beeping version of Ride of the Valkyries
0239 OM reading numbers and letters (letters in NATO phonetic)
SIO 333-444, depending on fading. Sometimes comes in quite strong, but quickly fades.
0249 OFF
0254 OM back on reading alphanumeric codes
0304 OFF

Been listening from 0221-0236, can't find any BFO setting where it doesn't sound completely wrong.  :'(
EDIT @ Tom Hooper, that would explain why I couldn't zero in the BFO. The ol' Grundig doesn't fine tune finer than 1 kHz.

0138 Hearing big band music, SIO 222 at best.
0144 faded out or off.
0147 CW and OM, Radio Zed ID and email (radiozed at hushmail dot com). (I couldn't hear any of it clearly but I recognize the format and voice from past broadcasts.)
0148 big band music
0202 Signal improving, SIO 333. But I'm also getting local interference in the form of intermittent beeping. It's been ruining much of my 40m listening lately.
0206 Tommy Dorsey, "Who?" per shazam
0208 Tommy Dorsey, "Yes, Indeed!" per shazam.
0211 Rheingold Beer commercial per shazam.  Is there anything this app doesn't know?
0212 Tommy Dorsey, unshazamable. Apparently there is.
0215 faded or off.

Thanks for the show Radio Zed!

01 May 2016 0120 UTC - Bollywood music just barely audible, frequent fades. It's just after sunrise there and just before sunset here.

6174
0057 Just a hint of music audible from below the noise floor.

6175
Huh? I clicked on that - it's even in my iTunes as 5110.  ???

I'll go back to the site and check it out. Thanks for the heads up.

EDIT - I deleted it, clicked on 5115, and am listening to the same thing I was before. Guess they're streaming something else. Sorry.

Listening online (not getting even a hint of anything here - sun may be too high, even with the relative proximity and power of the transmission). Some nice stuff - Blotto "I Wanna Be a Lifeguard," a Dire Straits song (possibly something from Brothers in Arms), currently (2210z) "Search and Destroy" by Iggy and the Stooges.

Thanks for the show!

Cool. What kind of stuff do you play? I don't want to request Slayer if you're more into Ornette Coleman (or vice versa).  ;D

Shortwave Broadcast / IBRA Media (Wooferton relay), 15510 AM
« on: April 30, 2016, 1859 UTC »
30 APR 2016, 1853z. Initially a strong clear S9 signal, but quickly fading to the noise floor. Arabic music, then OM speaking. About to sign off according to short-wave dot info, which also reports that the language is "Fur Arabic." Clicking on that to bring up all Fur Arabic transmissions brings up only this transmission on their schedule, no other.

Thanks for keeping this up. Looks like a lot of work.

Yeah, when I saw Atletico knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League (I had them pegged to repeat) I knew they were a team to be reckoned with.
