This really doesn't have anything to do with anything, but it does cause me to laugh out loud -  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7kirdtdI1c

The "=" sign is how the software decodes the morse BT ( _ . . . _ ) which is a break.  In phone, one would say "Stand by".  In CW, one sends BT.

What in the world are you talking about?  And, if it is something happening on another web forum, why bring it here?

I'll be QRV.

The apple thing is suspicious.  I would guess Commander Bunny's involvement.  But, don't quote me on that.  C.B. has done a lot of different creative things.  Numbers wouldn't be a stretch.

Sounds like someone is having a lot of fun!  Haven't heard an AM BCB pirate in a really long time out this way.  It takes a lot more engineering to put an AM pirate on than an FM.  Bravo to them!

Solid S-9 signal here in CA.  Was a fun program.

BA kicks butt in California too.

Thanks, S.A.  And, I am very sorry for the misunderstanding.

Not at all interested in reporting these sigs.  But, interested in including them in daily scans for a chance to catch one or more.

Europe has their own radio cops.  I, for one, am not interested in being a radio cop.  Curses to the hams that think they are radio cops too.

O 'form letter' that has nothing to do with listening to any radio stations, but rather trying to get 'free stuff' from broadcasters.  I get these once in a while at my legit broadcast emporium.

A bev antenna is used for LW and AM BCB bands because signals approach it at very low angles.  If you use a bev for 7 megs, the signals will be coming in from a much higher angle, and you will actually have negative 'gain' compared to a dipole at the high angles.

However, this is a good time to point out that experimentation is what it's all about.  So, if you want to find out for yourself, go for it!

The best antennas I have used for 7 MHz. area SWLing are-

Large inverted L (over lots of ground wires, fed with 9:1 balun)
T2FD (horizontal, flat config.)
1/2 wave wire dipole (with 1:1 balun feed)

Verticals are OK, if you have LOTS of ground radials and are in a quiet location (I am).  But, even the simplest dipoles outperform a vertical for SWLing, hands down.

Seriously, I know the 'expert hams' hate T2FD antennas, we hashed it out a little here not too long ago.  However, for SWLing, they are really quiet, and really pull in the signals!  Sometimes, I can hear things on the T2FD that I cannot hear on the other 5 antennas.  I don't care how they transmit, just talking about SWL applications here.

73!

That reminds me...  There is a CODAR installation in Bolinas that uses 11m.  Haven't tried to copy it here yet, but I imagine SWLs in Hawaii hear it well at times.

The only thing I have ever heard on 4625 USB is that dang wideband sweep generator.

HF Beacons / Re: Morse Beacon Keyer

Wouldn't that circuit in the above schematic actually be sending " O S   "?

SO much easier, and fancy IDs possible, using a PIC for a keyer these days.
