The "Max Headroom" hackers did it by overriding the microwave STL for both WTTW Ch11 (PBS) and WGN-TV Ch9 (CW?). They both have their studios on the north side of Chicago and their transmitters on either the Hancock or Sears buildings. Ch9 was able to switch to a different STL freq but Ch11 was stuck with it. This info I got from a website several years ago. I don't remember which one. Before that WLS AM890 was hacked in the same way by somebody in a car. They immediately switched to Telco land lines.

If it's any help there is an analog 6 here in Chicago called METV-FM (owned by the same owners as ME-TV) and they have pop music from 70's & 80's etc. I don't know if they have any Sunday religious programming since I don't listen to them. They are probably offset down too even though I don't think Chicago had historically been an offset city back in the analog days. Now of course with digital there is no offset, all carriers are 310khz above the bottom of the channel, such as 60.310mhz for chan 3 etc.

Tuned in at 0025utc while watching TV, song "I second that emotion", J Hendrix "manic depression", apparently a program about feelings, Drake R8 and temporarily repaired dipole after snowstorm 1½ weeks ago. (edit) I can do without the song "excitable boy" due to sick topic matter. (2nd edit) forgot to say good sig but with a bit of selective fading.

I've been tuned to this since 2345utc while watching Superman and Batman, very weak signal with occasional bits of audio under increased noise, R2000 and temporarily repaired dipole (heavy wet snow hit Chicagoland).

HF Beacons / Re: New HiFer "SPT" Beacon on 13558KHz

Just tuned to 13558 and I don't hear it in Chicagoland. On 13560 I hear constant rhythmic chirps and beeps from the Elk Grove industrial/commercial park about 5 to 7 miles south of me. That park is just west of O'hare field. Kenwood R2000 and 7mhz backyard dipole.
