Had a het against WTAM prior to 9:00 p.m. EDT and it didn't go away after dark. Also had a snippet of a Simon & Garfunkel song at 8:50 but, of course, it disappeared before TOH IDs; most likely WHLI.

Isn't there a Euro channel on 1098? Is there a flamethrower station there?

Try at: wbcq.us

That should work.

I'll guess and say that most luminescent panels would run off very low DC voltage, perhaps 3VDC or less. They certainly wouldn't handle 120V (for more than about one nanosecond!)...

I didn't realize it was April first already...  ;)

Neat package and display. Maybe worth $25 if you're not handy.

Except for the audio alert, you can do the same thing for a few pennies: Take a small neon lamp, attach an antenna to one wire and a Ground to the other and *voila* watch it flash.

The RF Workbench / Re: Radio repair technician

If you don't mind shipping it off for repair, Matt Adrian at SARTS in Michigan is excellent and reasonable. There are other regional repair places, so there might be one closer to you.

A good source for such information is on eham.net, under reviews. Look for radio repair, then SARTS.

Thx, Aurora! I may wind up going with Miller myself as the job doesn't look too difficult.

BTW, the 2manytoyz URL keeps reporting Not Found... But the other one works fine.

I see you use a Pro3 - I also have one (doesn't xmit); it replaced a somewhat modified R-75. The only thing it lacks is a waterfall display!

Thanks again and 73, jta

Does anyone know of a replacement readout back light assembly for this baby? As I recall, they were getting scarce the last time I had one, but I gotta ask. I don't care if it isn't the OEM panel, certainly a few LEDs should work. Any info appreciated. 73, jta

Were you a chef in a previous life, Chris? Looks good enough to eat off the screen!

Of course I looked at this just before lunch...

While sitting in my car outside Noyes Hospital (in Dansville, NY) Friday (the 22nd) waiting for my riders I was listening to 107.7 "Alt Buffalo" just before noon EDT, when a country station took over the frequency. I didn't recognize the song, unfortunately. Right near the top of the hour they ID'd as "Big Country, Spenser, Iowa" - KICO. They run 100kW from only 87 feet AAT. Not bad for a stock Ford car radio.

Correction: It's actually KICD, not KICO, and Spencer, not Spenser... Getting harder to read the fine print in my FM Atlas!

I think it was Mark Twain who said, "There's lies, damned lies, and statistics."

The trouble with statistics is that you can make them say anything...

That doesn't make any sense. Didn't they just spend a boatload of money to upgrade all their transmitters?
