740 AM 0130Z 4/9/17 Doris Day singing Once I had a Secret Love followed by American Patrol and others I can't identify. Nice big band music from Big Band Sunday Night. Need a big black dial Zenith or Philco console to do this right, a Buick car radio isn't optimal.

A guy at a place I worked at ran into a nest in the yard and put some gas in a baby food jar, tossed the gas into the air near the nest and they dropped out of the air dead, just like that.

I've not used one of those model, however the cost of the rtl v3 dongle is so low and it does so much I have to assume those who buy a cheaper dongle just don't know about the v3. The tcxo alone is worth any cost increase over the cheapest of the cheap dongles.

Some of the soviet era transistor portables are really nice looking and reportedly work quite well. Apparently their few consumer goods were allowed a level of elegance, as compared to a T72.

The 660 has the center indent tuner iirc, and you can never get the master oscillator aligned so upper and lower are at 0 beat on all bands with it centered.

Neacp/tacamo/glass flight burning mux on 338.95MHz 0001R (Romeo time is eastern US local time) 08Mar17. Lots of voice comms. Something must have been up as they're never logged here so late or so strong.

I wholeheartedly agree, using a tuner is very effective for the bands below ambc. Amazingly so really. So much more energy is efficiently transferred when each end of the system (antennae/transmatch/feedline/radio) sees its natural z.
