General Radio Discussion / Re: Sky Loop Antenna

Thanks for the article. This looks like a fun project. Now if my antenna supports would start growing faster...

BTW, some people don't use baluns with this antenna:

S9 signal here with deep fades. Nice signal. on 6238.something. Good Monkey show. Tuned in at 2302 and heard "I'm a good Monkey"s by Sealord, Grasscutter, Sunshine, WEAK Radio, Cosmicdebris, Kracker, Sycko, & others.

Thanks for the show!

Thanks, Sealord! I tuned in at 0413 & started recording, but I was mostly away from the receiver. The signal was weak in loud static crashes. Listening to what I think is "Song Remains the Same" right now, but it is NOT easy to identify. It's like July static levels.

Thanks for the show!

General Radio Discussion / Re: Recognize this noise?

It's more "ragged" sounding than the types of power-related noise that I get. Good luck getting that noise eliminated!

OK, listened to this on headphones. It was on for 34 min, with a QRT about 0759 UTC. There was no dead air. The sig was AM and somewhat off 6925 because I had the receiver on 6925.00 USB. I had a deep het from being mistuned. When listening on the old laptop, I couldn't hear the het & mistook this for dead air. That het also made for 34 min. of unpleasant listening. Programming was all house music, including Green Velvet "La La Land" at 0735. I think I heard an announcement of some sort at 0745, but I really couldn't hear much.

It didn't sound like either WMPR or Radio 2012 Int'l, The last song sounded like something those 2 stns would play. My best guess is Liquid Radio, but I really don't know.

Thanks to everyone who sent in their Wolverine SSTV pics & offered help.

I've started sending entries to stations for info verification. I've gotten bouncebacks from:

Chamberpot Radio
College Bowl Radio
Grasscutter Radio
Old Turkey Radio
Shrunken Head Radio

If there are new e-mail addresses for these stations or if the station operator is out there and would like to review the entry, just let me know.

Thanks much & have a great day!

Caught this last night one the recorder. Nice signal, but I had the R8 in USB & the broadcast was in AM. On for about 20 min or so, probably testing because there's a lot of dead air. I don't have time to listen to the file right now, but I plan to go through it & see if there are any IDs. Seemed to strong to be from Europe, but you never know  :)

THanks for the show!

HUGE signal with typical program of techno dance music & electronic IDs. Faded after a few min.
THanks for the show!

Heard here, too, but really weak in deep static. According to the guys on Iann's chat, this was WPOD. My first time for this station.
Thanks for the show!

Much better sig than normal here, too. Tuned in to The Who "Squeeze Box," then "Life in the Fast Lane"

Thanks for the show!

Excellent sig here & have been listening since not long after sign on. Peaking at S9. All blues music thus far. New "Lone Ranger" computer-voiced IDs (at least they're new to me)
Thanks much for the show!

Not a lot of audio, but clear singing coming through. Sounds like older, slower blues with a woman singer.

Thanks for the show!
