Started playing a light pop song with a female singer at 0715 UTC in AM. The song was really weak and went off (but weak enough that I couldn't tell if it faded out), but then the song came blasting in a minute later in USB, with a bit of distortion. Have a recording, if the operator's interested.

Please ID?

No trace here

Just tuned in. Decent sig here, too. Countryish mx. Clear ID, said something about reports, but not sure what.

1900+ started with a pretty good sig & big carrier. IDs, Pirates' Week version of "Breaking the Law," then fading down. We'll see if it comes back up.

Thanks for the show!

Carrier here with just a trace of audio. But signal faded up really nicely & I had a few clear "Radio True North" computer IDs, along with the e-mail address.

I tuned across the CB band & heard tons of activity an hour or two ago, so it's nice to hear someone playing with the high freqs today.

Thanks for the show!

Going back over the recording now. Off or fade out by 1306.

Weak sig & time makes me think Radio Ga-Ga, but I haven't heard an ID yet. Weak enough here that I might not hear an ID, so I thought I'd post to at least alert others that someone is here. Sounds like 1920s/early '30s jazz.

Thanks for the show!

BunCom with VG sig here (as opposed to the last few times when I had no trace) with IDs, Belfast add, etc.

Thanks for the show!

Hey Sealord, Thanks for checking this out! Now I know everything rather than leaving it as "some unid pirate and a jammer of some sort." This is the only time I've heard PPV Radio, so I didn't have other transmissions to compare it to.

Hey Sealord,

Thanks for the tip. I searched YouTube & it sounds just like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYJ6PylrgL8&feature=related

I just assumed it was a jammer.  :P

Funny thing is that I'm listening to the recording now & some pirate was goofing around over top of it, vocally doing the Close Encounters theme, singing song bits, etc. It was in SSB and I was recording in AM, so I haven't been able to/decode ID any announcements from the pirate.

I'll e-mail a recording of it to you if you'd like.

Thanks & have a great day!

Yeah, I heard & recorded this, too. The jammer sounded like 6 or 7 electronic tones, ascending up in pitch like a staircase. I've never heard SWBC on 6940 kHz & wouldn't've guessed that a jammer would so quickly find & jam a station in the middle of nowhere frequency-wise. Anyone else know what this might've been? ???
Thanks!

Funny, it seemed to decode OK in LSB on the R8.  :)
Thanks, Turtlehead, for the response. I've been missing your shows, but I'm trying...
Have a great evening!

Much better signal here, clear IDs right away. I had it in LSB on 6930 on the nose, so not sure if it was in DSB or if he switched modes. I thought maybe it was being relayed by Turtlehead Radio, but maybe not.

Thanks for the show!

Hi,
First of all, Merry Christmas to everyone. Thanks to all of the stations for the Christmas broadcasts (I’ve missed every show this weekend because of traveling and having an insufficient setup, but that’s another story).

I’m a little further ahead of the game this year and I’ve been starting to write entries for the 2012 edition of the Pirate Radio Annual. So, if you’d like to contribute information about anything, photos, or programming in the MP3 format, please e-mail it to me. The sooner I receive anything from stations, the easier it will be for me to write it and make it more accurate.

Thanks for all of your help & have a great Christmas!

Really nice comparison & interesting article. Yeah, I always really enjoy the Channel Z DX tests, so it's really cool to see the side-by-side comparisons (especially because I missed this particular one).
Thanks for the article!
