Thanks for the info TW. I just now saw the announcement by
The Relay Station about this. I'm going to set up the SDR to
record the Friday UTC xmission. I had the pleasure to meet
Ms. Christie and take in her presentation at the 2018
Winter SWLfest.

~0255 I walked in just in time to see an AM sig on 6900
I clicked on it and caught a few words by a YL
then SSTV, which did not decode, then it was gone.
The sig was a good S9+ but not full modulation.

Did anyone else hear this one? Chris, got it recorded???

I also heard these comms, a little earlier, and had the presence of mind (? :)) to click the record button for later playback.
Here's my synopsis of a playback of the recording:

3 operators: 6903 kHz OM, pronounces 3 almost as “tree”, S9+ sig, ~2kHz pilot tone, call C3Q and 2HF
6988 kHz OM, S9+ sig, no pilot tone, call unkn
6988 kHz YL, vy poor copy and QSB, no pilot tone, slower cadence, call C4K
2 different messages, main one was 30 char, other one was 36 char, all were similar format
and sounded to be continuous chars, not in groups, first 6 char seemed to be
                     “To:” field,  msg repeated 2X

005620: 6903 kHz, OM, call C3Q, 30 char msg Almost at same time: 6988 kHz OM, 30 char msg
012200: 6988 kHz, YL, 30 char msg
015120: 6988 kHz, YL, 30 char msg
022120: 6988 kHz, YL, 30 char msg
024335: 6903 kHz, OM, call 2HF, 30 char msg
024555: 6903 kHz, OM, call 2HF, 36 char msg
024845: 6903 kHz, OM, call 2HF, 30 char msg
025205: 6988 kHz, YL, 30 char msg
032140: 6988 kHz, YL, 30 char msg
--- Recording ended at 0330 ---

0022 - "Long, Long Time", very weak, just above the noise and
there could be another sig under this one...
0026 - another song by YL but can't make it out.
0029 - sig is up and down but caught a little of "Have You Seen Her?"

Thanks for the mx

A little early in the season, but this might help illuminate the subject:

Scroll down to:
A Compact All-Band Antenna

The whole article may be useful, especially the section "The Image Principle", p. 136 & 138.

Good luck! ;)

1621 - Also heard here,  in and out of noise, but definitely Native American flute and drums.
           Overall, ~S3

97
2115 - Radio drama about someone named Pumpkin, that's Perkins! SIO 453
2124 - "16 Men on a Dead Man's Chest" No wonder he died - with 16 men standing on his chest! :)
2126 - Parody of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home"

Thanks for the entertainment :)

98
This is same as Chris' post, so I'll add to his post and try to delete mine.
1845 - Drama about Big Foot? Mention of large footprint found 08nov1951
1852 - SSTV? No decode here
1857 - shift to 6926 and talk about Zion National Park w/background mx. Sig stronger now
1859 - Talk about Crater Lake N.P.
1908 - SSTV. At least partial decode. Yeti R.? (Yes, looks like it was Yeti. Thanks for much better SSTV pic, myteaquinn).

Overall weak sig (but it is daytime now), poor audio, and downward drift in freq. I did think to hit the record button for SDR record.

Thanks for interesting sig :)

1705 - Caught just the end of a Christmas jingle, then it was gone.
Not a bad signal but nothing to write home about. Sorry
I didn't hear more. Thanks, whoever you were. :)

Ooops, corrected date

Thanks Skippy. I think you are correct. Interesting, and now I wonder who sent it, and in CW no less...

BTW: I guess I'm going to have to post a pic of my cat, Christmas, on here. :)

Sorry I didn't take some notes as to exact time but I was sitting
here otherwise involved and became aware of very weak CW. I
looked up at the monitor and could see the CW while tuned to
6925 USB. I popped up fldigi and switched to CW-U and here is
the "text" that fldigi copied. To me, it looks like a parody of a bulletin
xmission. I can just pick out a few words and word fragments here
and there starting with what seems to be a story about a snowman
with a black face and a carrot nose... ???

I am posting this under Pirates since it doesn't seem to be
a "legit" signal.

No, I didn't verify it with the R-70 to make sure it wasn't an image
or something. Did Chris or anybody catch this on a recording? I
hope someone can shed some light on this.

General Radio Discussion / Early radar systems
« on: November 25, 2018, 2057 UTC »
Long, long ago, when I was but a wee pup of a tech, one of our senior engineers had some of these hanging on his office wall. I thought they were cool but had not thought of them again until the other night when I was watching a PBS program about the SR-71 Blackbird and The Skunk Works. For some reason, that triggered a flash back and I did a Google search – even remembered they were ads for Varian Associates – and found that someone(s) has saved them on the internet.

1915 - "North to Alaska" (I think!) but very weak, barely above the noise and somewhat distorted.
1919 - "Johnny Reb"?
1929 - Some kind of announcement by OM - ID??? but I couldn't catch it. Then off

Sounds kinda like same station as ~this time yesterday

~1905 heard some unk mx. Seemed to be a fairly good sig but
shutdown / soff about as soon as I tuned in. No, of course I
wasn't recording at the time - what a silly question! :)

When all the squirrels, possums, deer, and such are running up and down the hiways and byways
and not paying attention to the traffic. It's time to stock up and enjoy - yum!
