Let me add that the two times I've heard them the time has been roughly 3:00 UTC.

That must have been what I heard there last night. The hams on 40 meters were jamming the crap out of it.

I first heard it on Sat. or Sun. From the content, I thought North Korea had found a new place to squat.

The two times I've heard it, makes me think they're running a hair more than 1 kW if they're where they claim to be.

There are a lot of Kenwood 440's on the used market. The receiver section is identical to the vaunted Kenwood 5000 tabletop hf receiver. The 440 normally sells used for between 250 and 450 bucks.

Whatever you do, don't tell Fansome about this. He thinks SDR's are worse than the FRN and penguins.

I heard a bunch of SS and one guy speaking American accented English between the music. The latter guy switched back and forth between EE and SS. I've heard him a few times before in this frequency range.

There's one SS speaking guy who speaks decent EE who talks to the EE guy above and the SS guys. He always has a substantial signal. I suspect he's the net controller.

He's upset about a link I sent him about the possibility of Amelia Earhart being devoured by coconut crabs after crashing near a small atoll in Kiribati.

Yapping on the radio while piloting a plane then was just as dangerous as talking on a cellphone while driving today. Broads always have to gab about something.

I hit one with a nine volt battery from seventy feet up and twenty five yards away Saturday. Knocked it out. That just seemed to make the rest of them mad.

Who knew toads could thrive in near freezing weather?

Don't tell Fansome about this. He'll jump in the first boat he sees and start rowing for the Panama Canal.

Hmmmm........ maybe you should tell him?

I saw that on the news. Expensive fireworks, to say the least.

Isn't a revolutionary group based nearby? Virginia Beach, I think. The Fed's might want to check them out, it could have been sabotage.

This could be the best Halloween ever! Al, you got the paper bags full of dog doodoo? I got the lighter! Mr. Pigmeat, you can ring the doorbells ;D

I'm more of an egg flinger. Prank calls to the police, then cutting trees to block them in up a narrow hollow is fun, too. Plus, you get to rock and taunt them. I can put a backspin on a roll of toilet paper that I'm told is amazing. You can never go wrong with the classics.

My late father was an outhouse tipper of great renown, but that grand, glorious ancient tradition has mainly passed with the advent of septic tanks and county service district sewage plants

I knew there was something fishy about "Red" Green and his Possum Lodge! Is that you Hap Shaughnessy?

This has me wondering, will Port Asbestos be the next domino to fall? Is Old Man Sedgewick really V.I. Lenin? Can duct tape be trusted to hold our ICBM's together?

Other / Re: 3840 kHz-ish LSB Ham weirdness 0430 UTC ... normal?
« on: October 26, 2014, 0233 UTC »
There was a ham who used to broadcast in that region running an AM transmitter with a lot of power. He was on almost every night for a number of years before the FCC shut him down. He had guests, did remotes, he was something.

That LSB crew would try to jam him, but he would just crank up the power.

I saw his NAL in QST, but I don't remember the details.
