My college roommates hailed from Reedsport, and then I lived near there in my first job, so I have affection for the town and KDUN. I hope the station thrives now.

While most of its 50 kW daytime signal is aimed at the ocean, it's been very audible within the first hour or so after sunrise up here in Seattle's northeast suburbs during recent weeks. And, yes, lots of local hosts and content during those morning hours.

Fair to good via the Northern Utah SDR; not quite audible out here near rainy Seattle.

2207 UTC: "Rewind" by Triptides.
2211 UTC: Sounds like a familiar anthem of some sort; Shazam won't ID it.
2213 UTC: OM talking (Is that Dickweed?); said he's seeing some "strange readings" on the transmitter, so he "may or may not return on this frequency ... sorry."
2214 UTC: Off.

Not audible out here in the daylight near Seattle, but very good via the Northern Utah SDR ...

0022 UTC: "Twilight Zone" by Golden Earring.
0027 UTC: Redhat with time check, reviewed the just-played songs, and mentioning HFU posts, then "Dead Man's Party" by Oingo Boingo (a fave of mine).
0103 UTC: Been listening the past 35 minutes: Enjoyed the Orkestra Obsolete cover of "Blue Monday," there was a Chvches song in there, and after the 0101 UTC canned ID, "Hands Around My Throat" by Death in Vegas.
0105 UTC: A bit of noise rising on the Northern Utah SDR.

Just barely audible here near Seattle with an SSTV transmission as of 0304 UTC. Very good reception, however, via the Northern Utah SDR ...

Very audible signal here near Seattle, though it's the audio's not totally readable. Very readable audio, however, via the Weiser, Idaho, SDR, which I'm also monitoring. Music when I first tuned in at 0108 UTC, then music, and an OM talking again at 0114 UTC.

0115 UTC: "How the World Works" by Bo Burnham.
0118 UTC: "Truth in Advertising" by Negativland.
0121 UTC: Old Columbia School of Broadcasting ad, with remixed audio near the end.
0123 UTC: "The Greatest Taste Around" by Negativland.
0125 UTC: Off?

Can't hear the signal out here near Seattle yet, but listening via the Northern Utah SDR, which has a fair signal ...

0100 UTC: "My City Was Gone" by Pretenders, then Redhat chatting and reading emails and HFU posts, etc.
0108 UTC: After a canned "X-FM Halloween" ID, "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon and then "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter.
0120 UTC: While checking several SDRs, I missed some of the broadcast. The signal's not making it to SDRs in Idaho or Washington state right now, so I'm back to the Northern Utah SDR. Anyway, tuned back in as Redhat read more emails/posts, gave the email address, etc.
0124 UTC: "Private Idaho" by B-52s. (a GREAT classic!)
0128 UTC: Redhat back with intro to song, a quick HFU shout-out, then "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits.
0136 UTC: Canned ID into "Mexican Radio" by Wall of Voodoo. (another GREAT song from back in the day!)
0140 UTC: Canned ID into "Kodachrome" by Paul Simon, followed by "I Sat by the Ocean" by Queens of the Stone Age.
0148 UTC: Redhat talking about his turntable, reading HFU posts, etc.
0153 UTC: Now that we're past local sunset, I can hear Redhat's chatting making it through the noise on my own radio out here in Lake Stevens, Wash.
0155 UTC: "Monster Mash" by Bobby "Boris" Pickett, then "Hello Walls" by Faron Young.

Thanks for all the music! Nice program, as usual for X-FM.

2351 UTC: SSTV transmission.
2353 UTC: Horror-themed parody song to tune of "Gangsta's Paradise."
2357 UTC: Another parody song to tune of "Every Breath You Take" by The Police.

Soft audio out here near Seattle, but I hear music cutting through the noise as of 2147 UTC.

I caught the final few minutes of this broadcast via Tashkent, with a woman talking in Korean, then what sounded like children singing a song played on the piano, followed by signoff at 1630 UTC.

I know this is beamed toward the Koreas and is only on the air a few days a week, but that's all I know about this station.

This French broadcast toward North Africa is one of the strongest signals on the band here near Seattle this morning. Lots of "Radio Vatican" IDs during the program, which so far is nearly all talking.

With the super-local graveyard station KWYZ 1230 suddenly off the air the past few days, I've been logging stations on that and adjoining frequencies. Behind KSLM from Oregon very early this morning, I heard classical piano music and then orchestral music rising up at times.

I matched the music with what I heard on both a Manitoba SDR and on CJRB's own online stream. This station runs with 10 kW; distance from me is 1,007 miles. I use an Eton/Grundig Elite Field with an indoor AN-100 loop for my MW loggings.

Nice catch! As for KGMZ, that one at times can be heard over KRPI in Ferndale, Washington, at my location just over 60 miles from the KRPI transmitter.

North American Shortwave Pirate / YHWH 11840 AM 2041 UTC 19 Sep 2021
« on: September 19, 2021, 2048 UTC »
Audible via SDRs in Arizona and Northern Utah, with the usual "preaching" by Josiah.

This is the second time YHWH's been on this frequency today, as he was on in the 1900 UTC hour, played "Days of Hard Life" and then seemed to stop at 2012 UTC.

Turned my radio on here near Seattle at 0315 UTC, and this signal's as loud as any pirate's been in months out here!

0320 UTC: Man talking to a caller. This does indeed sound a lot like the L0DE Radio guy who was on the air last month.
