Huh? / Dogs to be used in this years Earhart Expedition.
« on: July 01, 2017, 0211 UTC »
Specially bred water dogs would be my guess, even though they are freshwater species. I hope the Howland Island penguins don't devour them before they can sniff out the old battle-axe resting on the bottom. Al needs to know the truth.

3917
They've been up there awhile, and I've often wondered the same thing.

3918
Al, do share these obits on the other media platforms you subscribe to, or are we the chosen few? Speaking from observation, the real demand in cyberspace seems to be for your cat and kitten pics.

David Kahn's "The Code Breakers".

You can't cipher, but you can read? How did you get out of sixth grade and into CalTech? That rich Uncle of yours probably had something to do with it.

BTW, did he ever have that "long talk" with you?

See? Sometimes all it takes is a crazed rant to get the disorder in order. I even saw Zamfir on a playlist. You're not going to hear that just anywhere.

European Pirates and Private Stations / Re: Pirate Radio War

So what's Murphy up to now? Eastern Europe is way out of the tri-yard he patrols on his Rascal. He must be selling "Mr. Microphones" and t-shirts to the locals.

3922
Before my last CB crapped out I used it to check on my now late Uncle, who preferred his ancient 70's base station to the cellphone his kids gave him. (the man hated phones of all kinds). It was about ten miles as the crow flies and easy to do with four watts into an inverted "v".

I see small lawn care and tree trimming companies vehicles running around with CB antennas here. As most of the trimmers are from south of the border and beyond, I wonder how many local "big guns" have tried to work them thinking they've got the South Americans blasting in?

3923
Seen any mutant werepencats?

3924
21 has been one for as long as I can remember and 17. I rarely go up there any more since my last CB crapped out a decade or so ago. It's a PIA to remember the frequencies if you don't have them in front of you.

From what I understand, what used to be "The Old Lady" channel here decades ago, 6, along with 12 are popular now. I'm sure it still changes from one small geographic area to another. I live in rural state, the channels that are popular on one side of a decent sized county will be different than the ones in the center and the other sections. The few towns in that section normally operate on the same frequencies for local bs'ing. You still see a lot of CB antennas on houses and cars, someone is doing some talking.

I sympathize, Skip. I spent several years my early 20's working a shift in a machine shop.  It was ran by the state and not subject to OSHA regs on hearing protection. The Walkman had just came out, they suggested we buy them for hearing protection! You've got to love the government.

The place was so loud, we could be standing inches apart yelling at the top of our lungs at each other about what we had to do next, and it was still a crap shoot whether we got the info right? We would walk out of that place staggering like drunks due to our equilibrium being messed up by eight hours of the noise.

My wife and I went to a concert about a week ago. The bands were loud in the extreme. She's been complaining about her hearing being off since. Me? The ringing my ears hasn't been this mild in thirty years. I guess I needed a dose of "noise therapy"?

I was looking at a bunch of TV feedline I have the other day and thinking I might try to get a folded dipole up in a few weeks. God knows RF spewing devices are only going to increase in the future.

I think Kid Rock found out what an American Bad Ass was when he wandered in that Alabama Waffle House a few years back with his funny little hat on looking like a sweet transvestite that forgot to shave.

I hope he learned that you don't pretend to be a hardass peckerwood when you're a scrawny suburban Yankee kid in an Alabama Waffle House full of them at three o'clock in the morning? It's not prudent or healthy.

3927
YOU logged a pirate?" via email. Well it's been a while, and it's going to be a damned sight longer if they don't quit playing a Mungo Jerry song that was Gawd-awful when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth and Archie's tunes! Jesus Palamino!

Some fellas should stick to croquet and keep their opinions to themselves.

Huh? / Re: Penguin Poop Seen From Space
« on: June 26, 2017, 0041 UTC »
It's how they signal Al's home planet on what he's up to and where he's at.

Certain penguins go under grueling genetic modifications in the egg and emerge looking like common house cats. They're then sent out to follow their targets.  Are Al's beloved "Kitteh's", cats, or are they mutant tracking penguins in cat form?

3929
If only Al's brother Fred would have loaned them his car. They'd have shown Dartmouth and the city of Hanover!

3930
They've been blasting in here from 8 in the morning until 8 in the evening over the healthcare bill over the past week. After the election was over I was hoping it was done for two years?

They banned companies from using them nearly 30 years ago. They ought to ban political groups from doing the same.
