Great signal with fading in Central Florida, using the 20 ft long wire antenna tonight.

Mixed music with commentary.

My radio program, VORW Radio International heard at S9 level with fading here in Central Florida, listening on a Tecsun PL-660 receiver with a 20 ft long wire antenna.

Listening on 17640 kHz here in Central Florida, good S9 +10 signal with the Tecsun PL-660 and a 25 ft long wire antenna.

Usually I listen to the VOA on 17895 kHz at this hour, but the BBC WS has a great signal now, so I'm enjoying the match too.

I am pleased to report that I was able to receive the Relay Station on 5150 kHz at my location in Central Florida using just a Tecsun PL-660 receiver with the telescopic antenna.

Signals were very weak, however a carrier and faint audio of the tune "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve were heard. This station was logged at 20:59 UTC - signal measured at S2 - S3.

When I'm in New York, the signals are much stronger but it was great to receive this station nonetheless.

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: Radio Rebelde schedule change?
« on: January 27, 2017, 0219 UTC »
I've noticed their transmissions on 5025 kHz to be very spotty these last few days.

I live in Florida at the moment so R. Rebelde is heard S9 signals at minimum, 24 hours a day. When they're off the air, it's most certainly noticeable.

Heard at S9 +20 strength on my Tecsun PL-660 receiver, 30 ft wire antenna, live sports coverage in English - always exciting to listen to!

This doesn't seem very well thought out at all, I doubt I'll be able to hear anything even if I tried.

Excellent signal of the BBC World Service in English on 7445 kHz, political news about Trump, S9 +10 signal.

Listening with a Tecsun PL-660 receiver sitting on my table with just the telescopic antenna, closest BBC transmission to a North American service.

Too bad they don't use this frequency more, perhaps with they're budget increase they can stay on 7445 kHz for 3 hours or so instead of 1. Doubtful though.

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: BBC in English 7445KHZ 0500 UTC 11/17/2016

I've taken to listening to 7445 kHz nightly as well, closest thing we have to a North American broadcast.

9915 kHz in the late afternoons used to be good, but so far the reception on 7445 kHz is unparalleled.

MW Loggings / Re: WRCR 1700 Off Air?
« on: November 15, 2016, 1747 UTC »
When I'm up in NY visiting, I'd be only 10 miles or so from the WRCR transmitting site. I'd always enjoy the music they played but the station really did cause a lot of interference to those frequencies!

I'm disappointed in them and they lost a listener, but as they say, money talks. If I want to ever listen to Indian music, it'll be from All India Radio, not WRCR.

A shame, at least there's plenty more to listen to on the MW and SW bands.

Shortwave Broadcast / Voice of America English 17895 kHz 1742 UTC
« on: November 02, 2016, 1749 UTC »
Great signal of the VOA's English Service on seasonal frequency of 17895 kHz via The Vatican. I've been listening every day between 1600 - 1800 UTC and signals are consistently good at that time.

1600 - 1630 Africa News Tonight, news pertinent to the African Continent.
1630 - 1700 The Sonny Side of Sports, miscellaneous sports news.
1700 - 1730 VOA International Edition, world news as well as science & political updates.
1730 - 1800 Up Front, Pop Culture program with many interviews.

Great signal, great programs, great to have the VOA to listen to every afternoon.

Central Florida, Tecsun PL-660.
