I'm hearing this one again tonight, right now at 0018z with Christmas music, only present on the North antenna and hovering just above the noise floor when it fades up, which isn't often.

107
0302z: Hearing music, possibly Adele's Someone Like You, very faint bubbling up from the noise floor on the North antenna.
0317z: another fade-up with slow female vocals, possibly a country song.

108
2307: slightly above the noise floor with old time Christmas music.

Fluctuating between S5 to S7 in Michigan, thanks for the tunes!

Heard well in Michigan right now at 1802 UTC, S6-S7, 6866 LSB, female vocals.

Huge S9 signal and sounding great at sign-on a few minutes ago.  Looking forward to the Christmas show - thanks Redhat!

Off-air recording capturing most of the show with a good signal the majority of the time:

I'd love to know what music. I was just running a test broadcast with mostly Christmas music then went into a Devo escapade because I drank. Real curious if this rig is getting out on 1710kHz, long work in progress. Running 25 watts but the antenna needs far more work. I will probably run this all christmas on and off until it's perfected. http://darkliferadio.proboards.com/thread/1018/class-series-modulated-transmitter-build

Slide up to 1720 kHz some night, if possible, and let's see if it's getting out.  I'm 99.9% sure that the station logged in this thread is our "West Rockingham" Community Radio Network station however.

Presumed the Community Radio Network station with old time crooner music, just above the noise floor here but fair on the occasional fade-ups.

0207z: The First Noel and into announcement and what sounded like a live time check.

Utility / MW Arctic coastal maritime logs Nov. 28, 2018
« on: December 08, 2018, 2100 UTC »
Here are two new logs captured from a SDR recording while monitoring 1710 for pirates and other oddities.  These are weak signals, so the use of headphones is encouraged!

1713 kHz Vardø Radio, just a few kHz above the BCB broadcast band and located at the Northern tip of Norway, with maritime report in Norwegian language:  https://youtu.be/S0yYRPrrSnc

1731 kHz Svalbard Islands, a little stronger and also in Norwegian with maritime report: https://youtu.be/hUwtV7RgIUE

Svalbard is about as North as one can get for a radio station carrying any kind of voice transmission and probably qualifies as my most Northern logged station to date.

There are several coastal maritime stations still operating between 1710-1800 kHz that make great DX targets.

Latin American Pirate / UNID 1715 kHz USB 0130 UTC 7 Dec 2018

MW peskies???  While monitoring 1710, I'm catching some UNID comms on 1715 USB, extremely faint even with the 20 db preamp switched in.  Language is tentatively Spanish, but it's very weak and difficult to make out.  Because it's on my South antenna, I can safely rule out any Trans-Atlantic coastal maritime stations.  Have our South American friends ever heard such communications before in this segment of the band (1710-1800 kHz)?  0142 UTC now and it seems to be gone.

North American MW Pirate Radio / Re: UNID 1720 AM 2224 UTC 28 Nov 2018

Harmonic?  Maybe 2 x 860?

119
S7-S9 and mostly over light static crashes.  Typical great sounding wide signal.  Thanks for the show!

Hearing it too from West Michigan but very weak and mostly below the noise floor.  Occasional decent fade-ups though with adult standards music.  At 2300 UTC top of hour, DTFM touch-tone type sound effects heard which confirms this is the station I've been hearing and logging here as the "West Rockingham" station, though I have yet to catch a clear ID other than a generic "AM 17-10" and "Community Radio" mentions.
