S7-S9 and mostly over light static crashes.  Typical great sounding wide signal.  Thanks for the show!

North American MW Pirate Radio / Re: UNID 1710 AM 2245 UTC 18 Nov 2018

Hearing it too from West Michigan but very weak and mostly below the noise floor.  Occasional decent fade-ups though with adult standards music.  At 2300 UTC top of hour, DTFM touch-tone type sound effects heard which confirms this is the station I've been hearing and logging here as the "West Rockingham" station, though I have yet to catch a clear ID other than a generic "AM 17-10" and "Community Radio" mentions.

1710 currently has two weak stations @ 0111 UTC taking turns on my South DKAZ loop. The dominant one is a male Spanish preacher from an UNID station that matches none of the following 1710 stations:

More interesting is the second station I'm hearing playing old time stuff from the 1940s thru the 1970s that occasionally comes out of the noise. Unknown if this is the "West Rockingham" station I heard a few nights ago. <------Same station, see below:

0144 UTC: The Flamingos "I only have eyes for you"
0200 UTC: Chimes at top of hour and faint mention of "Rockingham".  These bells or chimes at TOH match the "West Rockingham" station I logged a few nights ago and I can confirm this is the station playing the adult standards and oldies.
0224 UTC: Weather forecast from pro sounding live announcer and into Dan Fogelberg's "Longer".

UNID, S6 or so on fade-ups:

0200z: Santana - Evil Ways
0203z: Announcement during fade

Very poor copy but with a 20db preamp sitting on 1710, I'm hearing a woman preaching (yelling) "hallelujah! hallelujah! hallelujah!" rising out of the noise, but the prononciation is more like "hallelusha".  I could be wrong, but it doesn't sound Spanish and it doesn't match Radio Reten out of Baton Rouge.  Any ideas?  Another mystery!

After listening to the recording again, it is Spanish, so it seems another Spanish language religious pirate is occupying 1710, aside from the Baton Rouge station.

With oldies and get this...announcements!  Weak copy with possible mentions of "West Rockingham", but not 100% clear.  Slogan heard was "Your station for great music and great memories, you'll always find them right here on the community radio network.." with mentions of an FM frequency and "AM 17-10".

Audio clip here, I would like to clear up the "West Rockingham" ID if someone has better ears than me:  https://youtu.be/GWM2snVbMmU

Poor copy in my backyard, but you're rocking on a remote SDR in...you guessed it...Alberta Canada!  S9+10.  Great hearing you again!

Hearing music here to my south, doesn't seem to match Radio Reten Lo Que Tienes, R&B music & oldies.  Anyone else?

0239z: Daft Punk - Get Lucky

I'm receiving a carrier right now in Michigan with perhaps a little imaginary audio on peaks.  When checking a remote in Italy, there's a pirate playing music on this frequency, perhaps from the Balkans?  You guys near the east coast might have a better shot at it.

Another confirmation that we are approaching the solar minimum: here's Greenland on 720 as heard from Michigan a few nights ago under co-channel blaster WGN:

MW Loggings / Re: Michigan BCB logs Sept., 2018
« on: October 09, 2018, 0110 UTC »
Have never heard any AM BCB DX past the Rockies from my QTH.

KFI, KNX & KNBR are usually good bets here during sunrise.  KNX has a traffic sounder on the 5s which really cuts through the noise.  1680 KNTS in Washington is another good bet and often heard here just before they reduce power.  1040 CKST in Vancouver is another good one to try for with ESPN programming that sometimes overtakes WHO here.  The last week of October is particularly a good time to catch far western states just before they power down.

NEW LOG

It was suggested on another list that this could be a pirate.  I'm hoping Daniel Wyllyans sees this and can provide some more insight. The station also have a FB page here:  https://www.facebook.com/amselva1710/

The carrier is starting to fade in again right now as I type this.

I've been noticing a carrier the last few nights on 1709.83 so I started checking various remotes on the Kiwi network.  My search led me to Argentina where one of the receivers had a station label on 1710 for a "Radio Selva".  Looking closer, the station on the Kiwi remote is right on 1709.83, the same as the carrier I'm seeing here in Michigan on my DKAZ pointed due south.  Such DX from deep South America isn't exactly common here, unless conditions go very auroral, but there are no signs of such conditions elsewhere on the band right now.

Radio Selva's audio stream: https://amselva1710.wixsite.com/envivo

Buenos Aires remote that had the best copy on the station: http://kiwisdr.gastonet.com:8073/

The carrier was pretty strong tonight at local sunset, but fading in and out rapidly.  I was unable to dredge up any audio to confirm it was Selva.

Anyone else seeing or hearing this mystery carrier or know anything about this station?
