Huh? / Re: A real "Inconvenient Truth"

According to the Daily Mail, David has remarried since his divorce from Barbara in 2014. His current wife, Elyssa Young, works as an administrative worker at Snopes, but she previously had a lengthy career as an escort and adult film star working under the name Erin O’Bryn. Reviews for Young’s “services” have been left on her personal escort website as recently as 2015. Young’s websites and Twitter account describe her as “a mature and experienced courtesan, idealist, activist & dreamer.” Her website further states, “Here’s the donation I request for my time, companionship, and entertainment” with “non-negotiable” rates of $1,200 for her minimum four hours and $5,000 for 24 hours.

Doesn't taking out a license kinda go against the grain of radio piracy?

Equipment / Re: Antenna tuner for random wire/longwire
« on: May 20, 2017, 1735 UTC »
Also for messing around on 160, it can help if you replace any toroid wrapped wire with teflon insulated wire, they can arch over in certain instances operating near/on 160m and it doesn't take much wire to do the job so it's cheap to do. Also if not using a built in balun it might help to disconnect it from the circuit as it may be active at all time, check schematic for details. I have an old mfj tuner that would emit a plasma on the wall behind the tuner from the balun terminals, indicating a very high potential, removing the balun eliminated the plasma display.

Sounds like you know your way around. Likewise I refused to cut up my 2006 for the same reason, however it did do very well at mil air. Always wanted to add some foil to its insides to block rf, shame they didn't make metal cases for it like they did with the 2004. Lol still have all the Bill Cheek scanner mod books sitting here, have to look them over. Likewise I need to get some antennae for dedicated mil air, a turnstyle for the sats and a discone cut for 220 to 400. I've also considered a off center fed vertical dipole for 220/400 as they have low swr every other MHz when designed for hf, perhaps even better bandwidth at uhf and are less fiddly to build than a discone, however it's not too hard to cut down the typical v/uhf discone for the band in question. Also been prodding a manufacturer I know to roll out a 220 to 400 bandpass filter that should help in high power v/uhf signal areas

I read somewhere how a Japanese warship was run aground near a US base so as to gather elint and do other spy tasks prior to ww2.

"Pigmeat, I find it interesting that such a thing would find a market in today's digital world!"

If you visit one you'd be hard pressed not to notice the age of most of the crowd. Most of them are old enough to be our parents, hence they may have had one of those rocket xtal rigs when they were kids. The boomers definitely keep cb and Bob Evans in business.

This is an excellent resource for mil air;

Thanks for the freqs, do you use the 2006 for mil air? The 2006 was my first mil air rx back in the day, good enough to catch satcoms sitting on the kitchen counter with just the factory whip antenna screwed into the case.
