I've been wondering the same thing re: Habana and weak signals on legitimate outlets.  11670 has been barely audible the last few days, and at least one if not two other broadcasts have been surprisingly distorted.  Hmm.

Onto the isthmus at 0345Z, I don't recognize the song, but there might be some Celtic influences in with the rock?  Anyway, SIO 434 in Madison, best on sideband to avoid nasty local static.  This is the first pirate I've ever heard down on 80M!

Any chance of Joe Bonamasa's 'So Many Roads'?  Sorry, I can't spell.  Drunken DJ Radio has TLR - that is, tipsy listener radio!

Thanks for the show, and have a lovely new year!

Edited to add: Thanks very much for playing my song!  Roughly 0405Z and I get a pleasant surprise!  :)  I first heard that particular song on a local community station about two years ago, and it about knocked my socks off.  Hard but lyrical blues for the win.  Cheers WDDR!

10 and 19 have both been kaput all day, 10 being worse.  Now 31 is fizzling out; CRI's pair of outlets on 9580 and 9570 are fair in some very loud, nasty static, and not much else is readable.  I haven't dared try 25, 41 or 49, the first because I'm guessing I'll get headphones full of zilch, the latter two for fear of having my ears blown off by the noise!

There went my DXing plans for tonight...

I confess, I learned CW by keeping a webpage with a simple listing of letters/numbers/punctuation marks and prosigns handy, then copying a whole lot of LW and 10 meter beacons, plus as many slow speed QSOs on the ham bands as I could manage.  Beaconeering really does help when you're starting out, or at least, it did for me.

Could that African clandestine be Radio Freedom itself?  If it was prior to 1994 it's definitely possible, although I don't know how long after 1990 and Mandela's release/the start of the transition to equality they actually stayed on the air.

141
Oh, that is just disgusting.  The very antithesis of Radio Freedom, isn't it?  I'm thinking here of the only other clandestine station I've ever heard of as signing on with gunfire sound effects, though I didn't know that one personally; too young.  Utter.  Polar.  Opposites.  *has the just about queasy shivers*

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: Thazin Radio, Myanmar

If I'm in a low noise location, I can occasionally copy Thazin Radio on 6165kHz during local mornings.  It's usually contending with CRI, but it can be quite readable.  If I'm at my usual QTH though, forget it.  Never heard it on 9590, at least not yet.  Nice catch!

I did not, unfortunately, copy this one.  I had no idea Radio Casablanca was on until just now!  Rats, boogers and double darn it, I wish I'd heard this!  All the WWII references give me the shiveries, and Free Morocco... :)  I'm a geeklady, what can I say?  Next time, Rick.

Can't quite believe I just wrote all that out.  I get way too into these things.  Fun, though.  :)

I am late late laaaaate in logging this!  I had this too, 2222Z with the very end of "Live For Today," and I was sorry I missed the majority of that song!  "San Francisco," "Along Comes Mary," one or two others I didn't recognize or couldn't copy in the noise.  Definite flower power show/TCS Relay Service ID at around 2238Z.  Fair to good at peaks, but suffering from deep fades (I was on foot mobile) and nasty QRM.  I mean really awful buzzy noise, yuck!

Thanks for the show.  A smidge bummed I missed "Aquarius/Let The Sun Shine," played on shortwave.  Hmm, might have to ask Eric to play that track on KBC sometime.

145
That is a seriously good catch!  :)

Take my advice: Don't mix mint Mentos and apple cider.  Ewwww.

Good thing I had a glass or two of something before voting in this... :P

Heard at 2341 with ID and a twice repeated radio Halloween at gmail address, then Ghostbusters theme.  Fair signal in southern WI. :)

*grins* Yup, I'm a nerdgirl!  Look out, eh? :)  I hate to burst any flirtatious bubbles, but I'm not really into boys... but I also swear I don't have cooties, electronically transferrable or otherwise.  Hey Markokpik, can you confirm the lack of girl disease for the fearful? :)

I would not be surprised if just after Thanksgiving, WOLX here in Madison switches to all Christmas music, all the time.  Ditto its sister station, WRIT in Milwaukee.  There go three quarters of your listeners.  Ugh!
