Clandestine Stations / Korea - May 3-4

KOREA SOUTH. 5920, Voice of Freedom. Finally moved away from ex: 6045 and the super jamming
there from N. Korea; first day back to their alternate frequency and decent reception; thanks to a timely tip
from Amano, who today reported:

"Below is breaking news.

KOREA SOUTH. back on alternate frequency 5920 (ex: 6045),  *0753-, May 4 (Tuesday).
The existence of the unmodulated signal on 5920 kHz was already confirmed at 0700 UT.
*0752-, confirmed the start of VOF on 5920 kHz.
-0800-, I confirmed the start of "Hamkke tteonaneun eum-ag-yeohaeng (Let's go music together)" at this
frequency with the start of "There's A Kind Of Hush" sung by the Carpenters.
NK Super Jamming on 6045 kHz still heard powerful.
5925 kHz is still no jamming.

Amano
Saitama at home, Japan

Today (May 4), at 1400 UT, I heard the same program he heard at 0800 ("Hamkke tteonaneun eum-ag-yeohaeng"
[Let's go music together]). My 8 minute audio is posted at http://bit.ly/3vHeEzr . After 1430+, strong QRM from
Vatican Radio, via Philippines, in Hindi.

Observed frequencies on May 3 (Monday) for this week:

Voice of the People: 3480 // 3910 // 3930 // 4450 // 6520 // 6600, at 1015 UT; earlier the reception was too poor to confirm.

Echo of Hope - VOH: 3980 // 4885 (QRM Brazil) // 5990 // 6250 // 6348 // 9100, at 0850 UT.

National Unity Radio, 9475, from 1447 to 1448 UT, on May 4. Brief Chinese language lesson; started and
ended with Joyce Chu singing "Hao xiang ni - I Miss You“; mostly in Korean; a few words in Chinese and a
sentence using the words. Thanks very much to Glenn Hauser for noticing this repeated language lesson
given 2 hours later than I had been hearing the same program.

KOREA SOUTH. Checked on April 28 (Wednesday), for frequencies for this week:

Voice of the People: 3480 // 3910 // 3930 // 4450 // 6520 // 6600, at 1135 UT.

National Unity Radio, 9475, from 1249 to 1250 UT, on April 28. Brief Chinese language lesson; started and ended
with Joyce Chu singing "Hao xiang ni - I Miss You“; mostly in Korean; a few words in Chinese and a sentence using
the words; "Women Tándélái" (we share the same view or we understand each other); N. Korea no longer jamming
this frequency, so nice reception. My audio at http://bit.ly/3xvEgRv .

Voice of Freedom, still remains buried on 6045, under very strong super jamming from N. Korea, from 1140+ UT,
on April 28; totally unusable signal. No jamming on 6135 nor on ex VOF frequency of 5920, which is a nice
clear frequency.

Clandestine Stations / Recent Korea logs
« on: April 20, 2021, 0449 UTC »
KOREA SOUTH. VOH: On 4890, April 16, from 1340 to 1347 UT, Choi Soo-jin's "Morning Special" EBS news
program in English and Korean; not just a news show, but really a language lesson, explaining the meaning
of many of the words used in the news; today's show was originally broadcast via EBS FM on March 29, so
actually old news (item "EBS Radio unveils its new programming lineup today," etc.).

VOH: On 9100, April 9 (Friday), at 1154 UT, with the weekday EBS (Educational Broadcasting System -
https://www.ebs.co.kr/main ) produced English language lesson; as always with a good signal (audio
at https://app.box.com/s/katt9tnlbhi26xjoqbu45gmjbfaqrkeo ). On Sunday (11th), at 0729, the weekend
only reading of a Harry Potter story in both English and Korean. Seems that all the VOH English language
programs (news, etc.) are from EBS FM. VOH continuing with a repeating four hour program loop.

National Unity Radio, 9475, from 1245 to 1246 UT, on April 16 (Friday) with brief Chinese language lesson;
started and ended with Joyce Chu singing "Hao xiang ni - I Miss You“; mostly in Korean; gave a few words
in Chinese and a sentence using the words; "Wǒ hǎo gǎndňng" (I am very touched); fair, even with N. Korea
jamming; Amano, listening in Japan, heard the same program today, but with considerably stronger jamming
than I heard. On April 19 (Monday), for the first time on this frequency, noted no N. Korea jamming during the
1243-1244 Chinese language lesson.

Voice of Freedom, remains buried on 6045, under very strong super jamming from N. Korea, from 1120+ UT, on
April 19; totally unusable signal.

April 19 (Monday), with frequencies for this week:

Voice of the People: 3480 // 3910 // 3930 // 4450 // 6520 // 6600, at 1115 UT.

Echo of Hope - VOH: 3990 // 4885 // 6000 (QRM) // 6250 // 6355 // 9100, at 1105 UT.

Clandestine Stations / Korea - Monday - April 12
« on: April 12, 2021, 1846 UTC »

KOREA SOUTH. April 12 (Monday) observations:

VOH: 3985 // 4890 (good - never jammed here) // 5995 // 6255 (as already reported by Dan Robinson at WOR iog) // 6350 // 9105 (good - never
jammed here), at 0802 UTC. Unlike last week, all frequencies changed for this week. Years ago this station gave a nice ID in English, spelling "V-O-H,"
along with a singing jingle ID.
[April 9 (Friday), VOH, on 9100, at 1154 UTC, with the weekday EBS (Educational Broadcasting System - https://www.ebs.co.kr/main ) produced English
language lesson; as always with a good signal. On Sunday (11th), at 0729, the weekend only reading of a Harry Potter story in both English and Korean.
Seems that all the VOH English language programs (news, etc.) are from EBS FM. VOH continuing with a four hour program loop].

VOP: 3480 (still the best) // 3910 // 3930 // 4450 // 6520 // 6600, at 1007 UTC. As usual no changes from last week; VOP didn't fade in today as
quickly as VOH did..

Voice of Freedom (presumed): 6045, at 0920 UTC; very poor. N. Korea super jamming noted on both 6045 and again on 6135.

125
Clandestine Stations / Korea - Monday - April 5
« on: April 05, 2021, 2213 UTC »

KOREA SOUTH. April 5 (Monday) observations:

Echo of Hope - VOH: 3980 // 4885 (good - never jammed here) // 5990 // 6250 // 6348 // 9100 (good - never jammed here), at 1110 UT; news
in Korean; for a long time VOH had changed their frequencies every Monday, but anomaly today with no changes!

Voice of the People: 3480 (still the best) // 3910 // 3930 // 4450 // 6520 // 6600, at 1105 UT. As usual, as it has been for a long time now, with
no changes for last week.

Voice of Freedom: 6045, at 1115 UT; poor due to N. Korea super jamming QRM. Ex 5920 was a clear frequency today, except for OTH radar.
Hope that VOF will shortly return to 5920 again, where they would have good reception. N. Korea super jamming noted on both 6045 and again
on 6135 kHz.

National Unity Radio: 9475, from 1245 to 1246 UT, with brief Chinese language lesson; started and ended with Joyce Chu singing "Hao xiang ni -
I Miss You“; mostly in Korean; gave a few words in Chinese and a sentence using the words; fair; strong N. Korea jamming noted at 1158, before
the start of NUR, which was strong enough to mostly block out the jamming.

126
KOREA SOUTH. new 9475, National Unity Radio, 1249-1250 UT, on April 1 (Thursday), ex: 7200. Brief Chinese language lesson;
started and ended with Joyce Chu singing "Hao xiang ni - I Miss You“; mostly in Korean; gave a few words in Chinese and a
sentence using the words; poor, as N. Korea jamming had already started here by 1150. This seems rather strange to me, as
the whole time they were on 7200, they were never jammed (not even once!).

Currently (March 31) VOF being heard on 6045 kHz., underneath N. Korea super jamming.
Thanks very much to Amano (Japan) for his continuing to monitor VOF.

("Here is your coffee." "I am sorry, actually I ordered iced coffee." "My mistake." etc.); this is the earliest I

KOREA SOUTH. 7200, National Unity Radio, 1147 UTC, on March 10 (Wednesday). Checking for the normal
weekday English language lesson, but instead found a brief Chinese language lesson; started and ended
with child singing Chinese jingle; mostly in Korean; gave a few words in Chinese and sentence - "Nǐ shě shéi?"
(Who are you?). My audio is at http://bit.ly/3l4kabg . On March 11, at 1145 UTC, another Chinese language
lesson, so the English lessons are permanently gone?
