MW Loggings / KMTL 760 Sherwood, AR Sept 2, 2013 0455Z

Discovered that WJR had company tonight. Nulled out WJR and the other station peaked N-S. They gave a nice long ID around 0423Z as 760 KMTL in Sherwood, AR. Station is putting in a good 45433 at max with fades down to 15421

Found them around 0315Z playing music with no breaks (that I heard) until 0423Z with the ID. Checked again at 0455Z and gave their ID again, then back into music.


The odd thing is that they're a 10kW non-directional daytimer and 0455Z is way past sunset. The FCC says their sun sets at 0015Z, and in August the FCC sunset time was 0100Z.

Somebody forgot to shut off the transmitter.

Closest station to me near Milwaukee and its currently reading 13. In looking at its history, Fri afternoon it went up to 21! That's nearly 2x as much.

That completely explains why I was unproductive at work and why a lot of people were gone. Apparently, I could sense this anomoly subconsciously and consumed a bunch of vodka when I got home to prevent radiation poisoning. Now will have more today to make sure I'm fully protected.

Received a second one today. Have a bad feeling that I might get 10 more from my re-tries. I hope they figure it out (and fix their website).

Interestingly, all the info was the same, except for the Transmitter Site was Issoudun. Same time, same date, same freq.

Nothing at all here at 2325Z. According to the USCG, LORAN-C was terminated on Feb 2, 2010 with no further updates.

When 8290/8970 were active, never had a problem hearing the Baudette, MN transmitter. However, never went in depth to see which other stations I could hear.


Since they fired up, perhaps its not as dead as they want us to believe. Turning it on now & then for testing for return to service? Testing for eLORAN? Other?

On some occasions during gray line, I tune into KCMO 710 up here and get echo. Considering they're a 50kW, I figure we're getting groundwave & skywave for a time.

However, that certainly is not the case for 11530. Which means if its multi-path that's causing the echo, its going long path & short path?!? I would doubt its going long path at that frequency. I'd still bet that something in their transmission system is on the fritz, which wouldn't be the first time.
