Utility / Busy night on 11175 USB.
« on: November 15, 2012, 0046 UTC »
Happened to switch the radio on tonight, and it was already tuned to 11175 KHz USB for some milair action. Immediately heard a lot of activity, with multiple mentions of an "incident". Highlights/callsigns:

- 0034 UTC: Callsigns RARE BIRD, FIRE OPAL (tentative via Token) and HUSKER 25 discussing an "incident". RARE BIRD seems to be a control point.

- 0036 UTC: Mention of ORDER WIRE and burning (presumably UHF) by an unknown call.

- 0037 UTC: OFFUT joins the fray with a quick check in with HUSKER 25.

- 0039 UTC: UNID with NZ/AUS/UK accent says "you're loud and clear here" or something to that effect.

- 0040 UTC: PUERTO RICO responding to "460" who needs a DSN phone patch (number omitted). DSN op is ANDY. 460 is nearly impossible to hear. ANDY mentions nothing specific except a "gas and go".

I did grab a clear ID at 2246 UTC.

Just a weak carrier noted around 6925.3 with occasional snippets of audio. Very tough copy here. S1.

S3 to S5 on peaks here with relatively heavy QRM from some peskies (using voice scrambling?). I heard a male and female announcer with a clear Metro Radio International ID around 2127 UTC.

Off at 0022 UTC (11/6) and was near S9+20 throughout. Thanks WMPR!

Real nice S9+20-ish signal here in the Boston burbs at 2343 UTC. It does occasionally take a quick fade down towards S7 but overall very good tonight. Usual trance-y electronic stuff.

Solid S9+10 with a weird mix of "Stayin' Alive" at 0019 UTC (11/5/2012).

Caught some early bits of this while in a different part of the house but by the time I got back to the radio it had nearly faded to oblivion.

Maybe an S1 or S2 here at 0104 UTC. Challenging to copy.

6924.9 AM 2120+ UTC. Good S9 signal given it's early. Sign on at 2120 UTC with an electronic song with bass guitar. There's some southern-accented (English language) boat drivers on 6925 USB at the moment that are probably wondering "WTF". They were on before this appeared. They were much weaker than this, though.

Announcer appeared at 0100 UTC and said he was "hammering out problems". Asked for reports via HFU. Couldn't hear an ID, but he may have given one. Noise level kind of over-powered this one.

I have the signal on 6930.35-ish in AM mode at 0059 UTC. Signal is S7-S8 ish with a bluesy rock song. No ID yet.

S7 here in the Boston burbs. Old swing style kind of song with female vocals then into some kind of country thing at 0130 UTC.
