Tuned in to Thomas Dolby "She Blinded Me with Science" & heard a "live from Zipper Lake" ID. Like Chris said, better than normal signals here.
Thanks for the show!

Obliterated here by strong CW. Could occasionally hear some audio. If he moved out of the 40m band, I'd probably have good copy.

Best sig I've had from SRS, mostly hanging around S7, but starting to have longer, deeper fades. A couple of clear computer YL IDs, a rap song by Dirt Nasty, a masturbation hotline segment, etc. I think it's going into a Pirates Week show now.
Thanks for the show,
Andrew

Station on & off with test counts & trying to eliminate distortion in audio. Nice signal, but some "rippling" distortion. Not sure if it's RF feedback or something else. Am recording it if op's interested in how it sounds here.

Hearing flute music at 1337 on freq. Long, slow fade ups. Haven't heard any IDs yet

Chris & Token: Thanks for the comments! That helps a lot. I was looking at reviews last night & saw a lot of positives on the SDR-IQ, but also saw a number of people who said that it was much noisier than the typical receiver. Do many of these receivers stack up well against the older contingent of top-end hobby-level radios (e.g., R-8, R-5000, ICR-71, NRD-525)?
Thanks again!

Can the SDR-IQ record chunks of spectrum like the Perseus? When I get an SDR, I want it for recording ranges overnight or when I'm away from home...oh and I think it'd be really handy for hearing the Irish church pirates on the CB band.

General Radio Discussion / 3220 kHz
« on: January 15, 2013, 0451 UTC »
Working on the Pirate Radio Annual tonight & I came across some loggings of stations on 3220 kHz (presumably all harmonics of 1610 pirates or Part-15 stations, such as logs by Joe Farley, N8Hensley, and Kilocat7. Just wondered if anyone was still hearing these or actively tuning 3200-3420 kHz looking for these harmonics?

Interesting stuff.

Have a great night!

Great signal here!

Huge signal with a live comedy segment recorded in Minnesota (about terrorists, Jersey Shore characters, phone apps, taking LSD, etc.) broken up with WFMT IDs. Interesting conditions tonight because I'm getting some multipath echo at times.
Thanks for the show!

Wow, both for the same broadcast--and the fact that it was the show that they were busted for the 2nd time, those are great cards! Thanks!

A '50s oldies station that reminded me somewhat of WKUE from the same time frame. That QSL was one of my favorites from '80s pirates. The op was "The Fox," but not the same op as from the station "The Fox" that was on about five or so years later.

Really nice signal & audio. YL-voiced computer ID @QRT.
Great to hear Eccentric again!

Excellent signal for North American relay of what was presumably part of Crazy Wave Radio's 1/1/13 show. Given the national anthem at the end, I'm guessing that this was originally aired from 0144-0200 UTC on 6300. I heard some of the show directly, but it was really entertaining to hear Chris & Andy in action. BTW, the email address is shortwave@gmx.de. I'm sure they'll like getting some reports from North America, too.

Thanks much to the relay station!
Andrew
