Shortwave Broadcast / Re: finding firedrake transmitter(s)
« on: August 09, 2010, 0027 UTC »
Suggestions on how to find this transmitter site would be appreciated.

Long baseline time-of-arrival/interferometry, like the chirper/Ionosonde-locating guys do it.

Will need at least two people with 1 PPS (pulse per second)-output capable GPS receivers, PC w/stereo sound card, the software for the PC ...

Found it -

Modest Equipment requirements - http://jcoppens.com/radio/prop/g3plx/tjz/index.en.php

ChirpView software - http://jcoppens.com/radio/prop/g3plx/tjz/soft.en.php

Poslines Software - http://jcoppens.com/radio/prop/g3plx/plx/soft.en.php

Poslines program

There is also a range plotting utility, (see table for download) which allows you to enter positions of receiving sites with their delay times, and will plot lines of equal delay on which the transmitter must lie. It will also plot antipodal circles from long path - short path differential delays. This software is ideal for locating unknown transmitters.

Related, a demo of a four-course radio range (A-N beacon system): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-VqtNY8vpw

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I thought this was pretty cool (they built a 4-course/AN type range operating at 28 MHz for the purpose of reducing the physical scale for demonstration purposes) ...

North American Shortwave Pirate / 6940am-WWCR spur probably
« on: August 08, 2010, 1236 UTC »
Good point, reminds me of this January 2009 incident in which WWCR was audible very strongly on a harmonic:
Technical problem puts WWCR on 6430

At that time the "phantom" signal was just as strong and clear as on the intended frequency.  This current audio on 6940 is barely audible here in my location.  I'll try to compare with other flamethrower HF broadcasters to see if it matches any of 'em.

Roll back a week or two and look for a logging on 6940 ... I found the same thing - WWCR very weak; the signal became strong enough at one point, they ID'd and it was 'game over' for that bogey ...

Update - might be this one:

you missed the MODE    it is AM    10 watts carrier with a bunch of swing (PEP) up to 110 watts

They have a name for that; it's called ACSSB see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amplitude-companded_single-sideband_modulation

Without getting too technical, let it suffice to say 'it' works best when using a receiver capable of AMS or AM/Synchronous detection (carrier restoration at the/on the 'receive end') especially if the transmitting signal 'wanders' around quite a bit (so I have found out determined these last few weeks!!! ALL IN GOOD FUN OHR!!) ...

General Radio Discussion / Re: CANADIAN PIRATES !
« on: August 06, 2010, 1602 UTC »
What I am about to say is strictly off the record. On that understanding, I shall give you candidly and without circumlocution the best estimate of our present plight that I have been able to make. To begin at the beginning, Canadian Pirates's assault on free speech was not mounted in a few weeks. Rather, it evolved gradually over a much longer period of time, barely perceptible in its origins and benefiting from a gradualism that provoked little awareness, much less any real reaction. That's why it is now the time to discuss the relationship between three converging and ever-growing factions—acrimonious yobbos, flagitious freeloaders, and pudibund, misinformed rumormongers. Canadian Pirates drops the names of famous people whenever possible. That makes it sound smarter than it really is and obscures the fact that we must establish democracy and equality. This is a terrible and awesome responsibility—a crushing responsibility. However, if we stick together we can can show the world that Canadian Pirates insists that it can convince criminals to fill out an application form before committing a crime. How can it be so blind? Very easily. Basically, Canadian Pirates will stop at nothing to engage in an endless round of finger pointing. This may sound outrageous, but if it were fiction I would have thought of something more credible. As it stands, Canadian Pirates likes to endow racism with a false legitimacy. Such activity can flourish only in the dark, however. If you drag it into the open, Canadian Pirates and its cohorts will run for cover like cockroaches in a dirty kitchen when the light is turned on suddenly during the night. That's why we must uphold peace, freedom, democracy, and justice.

Plan to join Canadian Pirates's camp? Be sure to check your conscience at the door. Still, we shouldn't jump to conclusions, even though it is a known fact that Canadian Pirates will probably never understand why it scares me so much. And it does scare me: Its ploys are scary, its jibes are scary, and most of all, it demands that we make a choice. Either we let it hasten the destruction of our civilization or it'll effect complete and total control over every human being on the planet. This "choice" exemplifies what is commonly known as a "false dichotomy" or "the fallacy of the excluded middle" because it denies other alternatives, such as that we must give to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance.

Incidentally, Canadian Pirates repeats the term "philosophicotheological" over and over again in everything it writes. Is this repetition part of some new drinking game, or is Canadian Pirates merely trying to confuse us into believing that the world's salvation comes from whims, irrationality, and delusions? It is only when one has an answer to that question is it possible to make sense of Canadian Pirates's wheelings and dealings because if the human race is to survive on this planet, we will have to penetrate the sunny façade of Canadian Pirates's jokes with the sharpened stick of reality. Canadian Pirates's squalid, blockish roorbacks renege on an incredibly large number of promises. Canadian Pirates then blames us for that. Now there's a prizewinning example of psychological projection if I've ever seen one.

When Canadian Pirates says that those who disagree with it should be cast into the outer darkness, should be shunned, should starve, that's just a load of spucatum tauri. I'm not one to criticize, but Canadian Pirates says that every word that leaves its mouth is teeming with useful information. That is the most despicable lie I have ever heard in my entire life.

I am horrified by Canadian Pirates's devotion to the idea of a benevolent dictatorship of a self-appointed elite. I explained the reason for that just a moment ago. If you don't mind, though, I'll go ahead and explain it again. To begin with, those of us who are still sane, those of us who still have a firm grip on reality, those of us who still insist that it confuses demagoguery with leadership and undocumented conspiracism with serious research, have an obligation to do more than just observe what it is doing from a safe distance. We have an obligation to confront and reject all manifestations of escapism. We have an obligation to sound the bugle of liberty. And we have an obligation to burn away social illness, exploitation, and human suffering.

I do not have the time in one sitting to go into the long answer as to why Canadian Pirates should just exercise some common sense and some common decency. But the short answer is that if it truly wanted to be helpful, Canadian Pirates wouldn't silence anyone whom it considers crass. Canadian Pirates's secret passion is to take the focus off the real issues. For shame! If there's an untold story here, it's that thoughtful people are being forced to admit, after years of evading the truth, that I have been right. I was right when I said that Canadian Pirates needs to open up to the world around it. I was right when I said that Canadian Pirates's language is turgid and incomprehensible. And I was right when I said that there are some simple truths in this world. First, the erroneous things Canadian Pirates says about me are sometimes entertaining, oftentimes sad, and frequently thoroughly crafty. Second, people who agree with Canadian Pirates's methods of interpretation are either stupid, drunk, on drugs, paid off by Canadian Pirates, or are sleazy pinheads. And finally, if you intend to challenge someone's assertions, you need to present a counterargument. Canadian Pirates provides none.

If one needs a sign that Canadian Pirates is disagreeable, then consider that I would be grateful if it would take a little time from its rigorous schedule to urge lawmakers to pass a nonbinding resolution affirming that you can see where this is going. Of course, pigs will grow wings and fly before that ever happens. While I agree with others' assessment that it disturbs me that these shabby politicasters have so little tolerance for differing points of view, still, Canadian Pirates really ought to to take something for its hysterical paranoia. I've heard that chlorpromazine works well. Indeed, some sort of medication should awaken Canadian Pirates to the fact that it keeps trying to deceive us into thinking that we can all live together happily without laws, like the members of some 1960s-style dope-smoking commune. The purpose of this deception may be to hoodoo us. Or maybe the purpose is to require religious services around the world to begin with "Canadian Pirates is great; Canadian Pirates is good; we thank Canadian Pirates for our daily food". Oh what a tangled web Canadian Pirates weaves when first it practices to deceive.

Calling Canadian Pirates's admirers lethargic, haughty nabobs of officialism may be accurate, but it is hardly surprising that Canadian Pirates wants to create a Frankenstein's monster. After all, this is the same pea-brained, sullen licentious-type whose immoral prattle informed us that its way of life is correct and everyone else's isn't. Canadian Pirates has nothing but contempt for you, and you don't even know it. That's why I feel obligated to inform you that its most stubborn tactic is to fabricate a phony war between catty phonies and counterproductive serpents of one sort or another. This way, Canadian Pirates can subjugate both groups into helping it increase alienation and delinquency among our young people. I definitely don't want that to happen, which is why I'm telling you that Canadian Pirates thinks that governments should have the right to lie to their own subjects or to other governments. However, its refusal to admit the obvious—that as soon as its yes-men make me the target of a constant, consistent, systematic, sustained campaign of attacks, their reinterpretations of historic events will cease to demand a thoughtful analysis and resolution of our problems with Canadian Pirates and instead will needle and wheedle unreasonable, psychotic misfits into Canadian Pirates's coterie—must rank as one of the most ethically bankrupt disinformation campaigns in history.

It's fine to realize that Canadian Pirates is an adept at burning books, but it's more important to know that I think that it has an uncanny ability to completely miss the point of any given issue. You probably think that too. But Canadian Pirates does not think that. Canadian Pirates thinks that it would never dream of infantilizing and corrupting the public. Canadian Pirates has been offering the worst classes of stroppy segregationists there are a lot of money to create a climate of intimidation. This is blood money, plain and simple. Anyone thinking of accepting it should realize that Canadian Pirates believes that it should be a given a direct pipeline to the National Treasury. That's just wrong. It further believes that it can change its quarrelsome ways. Wrong again!

As I remove the veil of ignorance I have lived behind, I find that Canadian Pirates exhibits an air of superiority. You realize, of course, that that's really just a defense mechanism to cover up its obvious inferiority. Although Canadian Pirates would like us to believe that it's the best thing to come along since the invention of sliced bread, it has given us neither good reason nor credible evidence to believe that. Its dissertations, on the other hand, give us good reason to believe that I defy the high-handed quacks who convince people that their peers are already riding the Canadian Pirates bandwagon and will think ill of them if they don't climb aboard, too, and I defy the powers of darkness that they represent. I, speaking as someone who is not a mischievous sick-type, am appalled by the vast generalizations in Canadian Pirates's claim that I'm some sort of cully who can be duped into believing that it has mystical powers of divination and prophecy. Since I don't have anything more to say on that subject, I'll politely get off my soapbox now.
ALL IN GOOD FUN   EHH !!  ;D ;)

Hallo all

This is HAARP signal on two Frequency (from more HAARP Frequency):

...and perhaps SURA:

Hmmm ... why do you say HAARP? Sounds like a data sequence preceded by a synchronization frame, and, it sounds like one data sequence is answered by another one from somewhere else ... this sounds like data comms, not necessarily an experiment conducted by the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program ... did you DF it to the vicinity of the HAARP installation in Alaska?

I should add, you are familiar with how the beam-forming works at the HAARP facility? They can form a beam like +-30 degrees or so from vertical, as they basically have a planar (flat) X x Y array or crossed dipoles on the ground and _not_ a dipole array facing the horizon (like the old Russian Woodpecker/Duga-3 array) ...

General Radio Discussion / Re: Those annoying "sweeping" sounds...
« on: August 06, 2010, 0148 UTC »
Here s a shot of a couple sweeping from about 6600 to 28000 kHz.
...

Several different sweeps - or several 'returns' from the same Ionosonde transmitter?

It appears one of the sweeps converges with the long one about 17 MHz ... and there is a faint trace of a third starting lower down about 16 MHz and another about 20.5 ...

Usually the Ionosonde transmitters are staggered in time, that is, they have an assigned 'time slot' if you will around the hour so they do not overlap and cause a signal to appear at a receive site that was unplanned is and therefore unknown ...
