Tuned in at 0155 on Barrington Hills IL sdr with fair S7 to S9 signal, blues and urban contemporary music sung by woman, some deep fading, switched to Traverse City MI sdr with fair S9 to S9+20 signal, distorted audio, blues tune sung by man, Capt Morgan ID, song: "1 scotch 1 bourbon 1 beer", switched
back to Barrington Hills IL sdr at 0212 due to deep fade, end of tune, Capt Morgan ID then off air. Nice tunes, thanks.

Sounds like John Lee Hooker's extended version of "House Rent Boogie" that slides into "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer". George Thorogood and His Delaware Destroyers do a first class cover of it, too. Bourbon was considered rotgut when Hooker wrote the song, fit only for boilermakers and heavily mixed drinks, Hooker was singing about getting on a bender in the 50's.

Few people know this but the Mothman's Great-Uncle was a well-known Goatman who was a mechanical savant who could fix damn near anything. He bathed in the creek twice a year, late spring and early fall, and if you happened to be driving by his bathing hole next to the newly graded county road you could expect a big friendly wave and bleats from the surrounding goats as he washed up.

Quite a number of his goats would get killed by idiot deer hunters in the fall. He painted "GOAT" on the side of one big buck goat. A hunter shot it right through the "O".

The best cat I ever had was named Skippy and he wouldn't have been caught scooting across the carpet to that mess of music. The Eagles and the Archies! Jeezus H. Christ! May his ghost spray on your finals.

Very nice signal received atop fog shrouded Monte Sano mountain in Huntsville!

Good God! Talk about rising from the dead! Which one of Huntsville's finer Burger King's are you in?

The history of Goat Men in America is a long and noted one. The New Hampshire Goatman preceded the Georgia Goatman by nearly a century, all of his clothing was made from goatskins.

Don't doubt the existence of Goatmen. There is more documented evidence for them, than Bigfoot, Ghosts, and Space Aliens combined. However, they don't look like that altered SSTV pic of Batboy. Just old guys who live with their flocks and don't bathe very often.

My Mom's birthday was on the day before the bombing, but they postponed her party until the 7th so the relatives in the boonies could make it. The announcement of the bombing came on the radio during the party, so they ran out in the front yard to look for approaching Japanese bombers coming in low and fast from Ohio.

Everyone and their brother used the B-3 in the 60's and 70's. I had a buddy who had one, we would get all Zeeky and serenade the people in his apt. building from his basement lair in the wee hours, doing Doors, Animals, and Booker T. numbers. Did you know sound travels up? Neither did we.

Sorry I missed the broadcast.

The Who did a killer version of the Batman theme when the show was still on the air. So did just about every garage band at that time.

There were a lot of people obsessed with those things back in the day. Murphy and I did ours due to people going goofy about "The DaVinci Code" that summer. I had a book on Secret Societies by the Afghani scholar Idris Shah under the name Arkon Daraul. Shah had a chapter on a bugaboo of the Catholic Church in the 18th & 19th century and "New World Order" believing ultra-Conservatives worldwide from the same era to the turn of this century, known as the Illuminati, specifically a Masonic chapter in Bavaria in the late 18th century known as the Bavarian Illuminati. Shah's book contained the number code of the Bavarian Illuminati. Big fun to be had with this thought I. I offered it to Alan Maxwell of KIPM, as his station operated around and on the premise of an Illuminati, but he turned it down. I approached Pat Murphy, he thought it was the bee's knee's and that we were far enough apart we could send it to each other like a radio net. It was on.

Conditions that summer were pure crap, high static, low sunspots, you name it and on top of that we were using a couple of identical 10  watt or so Grenade transmitters, not exactly the strapping AM xmitters you'd want to get out under those conditions, but get out they did. Boy, did they get out.

We hadn't counted on this fairly new thing called "the Internet"? Al Gore had just invented it a couple of years before. ;) People were talking about the transmissions worldwide on the web inside of a couple of days. It was a simple code, so it was easy to break, and all inside jokes about people in the pirate community. Tire pressure jokes, friends of Commander Bunny getting "special carrots" from Capt. Ganja, Al Fansome who may or may not have been Chris Smolinski depending on what rumor mill you got your info from, even though Al Fansome was an alias at a residential hall at CalTech going back to the early 1950's, way before Chris was born. I was Commander Bunny and so was Pat. No one knew who the real Commander Bunny was,it was part of an Easter show that Pat had found at a yard sale for under a buck. The thing just blew up.

I called it quits after a couple more transmissions. Fansome hung out in the WUNCHAT chatrooms and started getting all sorts of weird emails about how he was being targeted by an old and nefarious organization. It just wasn't worth it. Pat became "Commander Bunny" year round instead of just on Easter and a t-shirt and bumper sticker tycoon. I returned to being Pigmeat Martin, King of All Pirate Broadcasters, Fansome became the Pirate Radio God, Risen From The Grave, and Smolinski has made an Elon Musk like fortune off this board, just ask him.

Mod's put this one where it fit's best.

My Grandpa worked on a ferry on the Ohio River as a teen. They i.d,'ed the steam tugs by the raunchy little ditties they played on their calliopes, one's for coming up river, other's for going down. Music was way ahead of radio and radar. As foggy as the road's in the river bottoms are, you couldn't have paid me any sum of money to work on a boat on that river.

I walked into that river getting set up to go after blue catfish early one morning as a teen. I could hear the waves lapping at the bank, but damned if I could spot that half mile plus wide river in the fog and pitch dark?

The original version of "The Passenger", but I can't recall the album it's on."Kill City",with James Ulmer, perhaps? It was during one of Iggy's attempts to get clean. I know it lives in my basement.

Sorry I missed the show. Do you have Iggy's version of "China Girl"?
