I was hearing a long CW transmission on 6825 at this time which I thought was FAV22.

General Radio Discussion / International SW Disaster Test

Save The Date: International SW Disaster Test

April 2, 2014 - Members of the shortwave listening community can pencil in their logbooks an extremely exciting upcoming date. On June 4-5, 2014, listeners can attempt to log an international test being organized by the High Frequency Coordination Commission of the International Radio for Disaster Relief project.

During these dates, the IRDR will be tested on the shortwave bands at the Media Summit on Climate Change, Information and Communication Technologies, and Disaster Risk Reduction in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The IRDR will simulate a major disaster occurring in Southeast Asia, and multiple international broadcasters will be cooperating to support coordinated humanitarian coverage for the impacted region.

Mr. Oldrich Cip of the HFCC graciously confirmed to ReliefAnalysis.com that the roster of broadcaster participants is being organized, and there could well be QSL opportunities for this historic occasion via those outlets.

Click here for a new Fact Sheet about the relevancy of shortwave broadcasting and the IRDR from the HFCC.

Click here my thoughts on how shortwave radio can cross the digital divide, literacy divide, and disaster divide. This piece recently ran on the web site of InterAction—a coalition of 300 international NGOs.

I’m going to be closely following this event as it gets closer. I’m very excited about what this test could mean for the evolution of humanitarian applications in the world of shortwave broadcasting.

If you’d like to receive additional updates, feel free to sign up for the Relief Analysis Radio newsletter in the box on the right—I’d be delighted to connect with you.

Heard via Twente with fair signal. They repeatedly ID'ed as "Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran" & not as "Voice of Justice" as they do for the North American service on 11780//13650 3:20-4:20. Is VOJ only for N.America?

184
Heard via Twente (I am at work on a Saturday)  carrier on at 15:59, sudden audio cuts in at 16:00 with talk mentioning Somalia & music then the jamming started at 16:02.

Shortwave Broadcast / All India Radio 11670 KHz
« on: April 12, 2014, 1526 UTC »
I have enjoyed, for a while now, returning home from work & tuning AIR's General Overseas Service in English on 11670 KHz & hearing their newscast & usually falling asleep to the sub continent music they play. Unfortunately that HF bully Radio Havana has taken up residence on 11670 at 21:00 UTC leaving a mere 15 minutes of AIR GOS English service. Cuba is on an additional 6 frequencies in Spanish (5040,9710,9550,9810,11840,13740) at the same time so its not like 11670 is even needed.

I have downloaded the free version of multipsk several times on various pc's & never had a problem or a warning of viruses.

Heard on 6955 with fairly good signal while I walked the dog. 4 out of 5 bars on funky PL660 s meter.

Intuned at 3:42 to hear last 5 or 6 minutes of program. Great signal on barefoot PL660. Great tunes. Thanks for the show.

Shortwave Broadcast / Re: Who is under WWV 15000?
« on: April 10, 2014, 1925 UTC »
In looking for info about who the unid time station could be I see a couple I have never heard. LOL from Argentina seems to still be active 1 hour a day, Mon - Fri on 10 MHz (14:00-15:00 UTC). I don't think I ever logged that one. Really, what is the point of 5 hours a week? Also I see a Spanish time station EBC which I think is no longer even on air. They were only on from 1000-1025 , 1030-1055Z Mon-Fri on 15.006 MHz. Even less than LOL.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't hear the music if this is Italcable as Chanter said, but the other details match. They also do SSTV every few minutes.

I really love this show & it takes a looooong time to watch all the episodes as it is the longest running sitcom ever going from 1973 until 2010. It is a British comedy about three old guys & their child-like take on the world. Set in Yorkshire , the beautiful scenery is as much a character as anybody else is. This episode concerns the three guys playing with "portable radios" , huge back pack military type HF rigs.

I've been trying for this since they reactivated it a few days ago & today heard a JBA carrier with audio at the wishful thinking threshold.
